I like the technology we have now. I just wished people would respect it and have the same morals they did back in the day.

What I did back then was I read my school books and studied and watched the news and and asked alot of questions and I learned alot from my elders and others.

Have to agree with Tiffany, getting sidetracked on the computer, researching something important, yet at the same time getting irritated at the children for being too loud is irresponsible on my part.  I struggle with this, to find the balance and make sure I am building relationships with my children, and not tearing them down with my lack of focus on them.

You think technology would be a good thing.  I see myself getting sucked into some technology and not having time for myself or others.

I save time by researching online and not have to go from store to store to compare prices. Making reservations online is much better than having to go thru a travel agent (we use to have to go into the travel agents office), now we can do all of it on line, even boarding passes.Figuring out destination and driving times if going buy car and also, the best route.

I believe technology helps me stay more connected to friends and family that are spread out across the country. yes, it's easy to waste time online, but it also means I can see what's going on in the lives of people I love.

I was a high school teacher until this year and most of my students would get antsy by the end of the hour because they weren't allowed to text in class. That part of technology bothers me. I do love my DVR, but I probably watch more tv now than I would without it.

There are pros and cons with all of the times listed but I must say that I am very interested in what it would have been like to live in the Flinstones era. I just think that we relied more on ourselves and our personal and physical capabilities more so than what we could afford to buy to make our lives easier. I cannot remember what movie it was that I was watching with my son..maybe WALL-E where it was focused on the future and living in such technologically advanced times that humans really didnt even have to get out of bed to accomplish a days work. Becuase technology did all of the work, everyone was overweight and I can see that happening to us in the future too.

I agree with Karen above.  I may have more time but I have less personal contact.  In fact, I have noticed since we had our 1st child 5 months ago how much more it irritates me that my husband & I constantly have our iphone(s)/blackerry with us.  There have been several times where he gets frustrated with our son while feeding him his bottle but the real culprit is that he was trying to read an email on one of the phones & not focusing on our son.  We've instituted a no-phone while feeding (breast or bottle) as a baby step to overcome the problem.

I love the here and now but the future is always brighter...However, the past was not too bad either.  It seems we had more time to do the basics before the techno age.  Makes you wonder what ever happened to the old Monopoly game boards and popcorn balls and waiting for your tv show to come on tv without cable.  mmmmmmmm

I am a true "Gadget Girl"!!! Thanks to low cost cell phones and texting plans, I am connected to my teenagers when they are out with friends. I love my macbook, I'm completing my masters degree online. TiVo is a true luxury, I hope to never, ever live without a digital recorder. My iPod gives me the chance to listen to lectures while I'm driving or on the treadmil. I can't wait to see what will be available next week, next month, or next year. I would agree that these devices have reduced our face to face interactions and I am willing to admit that if my internet goes down I begin to panic a little. Without today's technology I wouldn't be able to accomplish half of the items on my list every week.

They did not ask if we would like to live in the 50's, a simpler, safer time for our children and grandchildren.

We don't know how to socially interact and have lots of meaningful face to face interactions.... that we are supposed to learn from.  Technology is great when used the right way, but lets not forget what our bodies were made for.... experiences

I am also a fan of caller ID, the DVR and all the new technology.  But at the same time we mustn't forget how to survive when all this fails as with a long term power failure or natural disaster.

I think that technology has saved us time, however; as a society we have become so dependent on technology many people have forgotten how to do things themselves.

No wonder our country has gotten itself into so much consumer debt.  There's way too much pressure to keep up with the Jone's and their latest technology.

I like technology to a point.  I think it is a bad thing when parents use it as a babysitter for their children.  Other than that technology is a good thing.

I love being able to acess virtually any information or answer needed at a moment's notice- I love, love, love the internet- it has helped our business to the point we wonder how we ever survived without it-                                  and cell phones! as a mom, they have saved me years of stressing about my kids- knowing they could always call me if they needed- or we could reach them if we worried has given us so much relief-
