I love celebrating Halloween with my kids!  Luckily, my sister's two boys live nearby, so the the kids all go trick-or-treating together, which they love.  This year, my daughter is going to be Sleeping Beauty, and my son is going to be a ladybug (he gets his sister's costume from last year. :)

My husband and I take our daughter trick-or-treating every year! When he is scheduled to work, he will usually take that night off just so we can do this as a family. This year our daughter wanted to be a pirate or a devil. We found her a cute pirate costume that she is so anxious to get into. I may pick up one of the "quick costumes" (ears and tail or eye patch and earring) which is what I usually do for trick or treating. We have been getting a lot of rain this month, so I hope for nice weather.

This is in response to Kathryn's reply to anonymous:  Thank you for your loving comments.  I appreciate where you are coming from.  We used to do the exact thing you said by attaching Bible verses to candy and giving them out at school as a witness.  We also spent 5 or more years at our church trying to witness through their Hallelujah Festival.  When I say that we have our light out...I mean our outside light.  We continue to live our lives inside the home making it a family night of fun and games, movies and popcorn.  Whether you celebrate Halloween or not has to be a decision that is between God and your family.  My family chooses not to celebrate and to have family night instead.    We are in the world but we try very hard not to be of the world.  My family does what is right for us...you must do what you believe is right for you.  I don't try to push my views on anybody.  I tell my children that you can't change the world...you must make your own decisions with God's help and let everyone else do the same.  Thank you again for your kind comments.  Be Safe!

My kids are 15, 17 and 21 and every year their costumes get more expensive.  I just spent $$$ at Party City and now I'm mad at myself.  But it's good to see them excited about something!

I love Halloween... I dress up my windows with cobwebs, string lights (orange & purple) and I also have some "spooky" eyes that sit on top of a bush.  I also set up an area in my Living Room with my "Halloween Town," (I got some lighted Haunted Houses).

We love seeing all of the kids dressed up walking thru our small town.   We decorate the house, start a fog machine, play creepy sounds (not too scary), all of us dress up and have family/friends over to hand out candy, eat chili, and if nice out have a bon fire afterwards.  This year I bought the costumes from Goodwll-if money is tight in your house like ours, you should check them out.  GREAT deals on costumes that were never even opened!!!

I am not here to discuss religion or condemn anyone for their decisions.  Everyone has their own beliefs.  When I grew up, the streets literally swarmed with kids in costumes and it is still one of my favorite holidays!  I'll admit the "evil side" does creep me out a little.  But I still find a place to go door to door (that is safe, of course).  This year we are going to Grandpa's house where we used to live to visit old friends and neighbors.  I am determined to keep Halloween going since it seems to have gone to the way side.  We have pretty much made our own costumes this year because money is just too tight.  I love what we have come up with!  For me and the kids, it is a time for creativity and fun.  The kids never go for creepy and scary, but fun and more Disney stuff.  It's a great time for kids to get creative, fun, use their imagination and get CANDY!!!!!  on top of all of that.  I also love to decorate and this year I have had a blast both inside and outside the house.  We've gone for silly, whimsical stuff like Harry Potter, the Munsters, and Hocus Pocus.  It's my first home and since we are out in the country, we won't be having any trick or treaters.  But we went nuts and decorated anyway.  The kids love all the crafts they have done.   I say go out, have fun, and of course be safe!!!!!!  Happy Halloween everyone.

I like to remember how excited I was to trick or treat and enjoy giving my relatives and neighbors kids some candy.  We go to our church "penny fair" as the weather is usually really cold, rainy and nasty and visit, eat snacks and the children have games like fishing for prizes and the older ones play bingo for prizes.  When we took our kids trick or treating they would go about a block then be done as they were so cold so this is a good alternative.

to Nicole, just wanted to say, I read your comment, and I don't know which posts you were referring to, but if mine was included I want everyone to know I am not trying to judge. Just stating my beliefs. As I said in my post I grew up celebrating Halloween. I dressed up every single year until I was 16 years old. My Mom and Mamaw sewed all of my costumes, and I had fun, but now knowing more about the holiday I can't bring myself to see anything good in participating it. Also, to all of you who call the people who disagree with celebrating Halloween ignorant, that is a little harsh, and mean. Maybe you should try to do just a little more research before you bash us, as you acuse us of bashing you. And as far as whether or not God will send people to Hell for celebrating, I don't know, that is not for me to decide, but I will say to CeeCee that the "spiritual world" being closer to the "physical world" in my opnion might be a little evil. I am sorry to any and all I offend with my comment, but I felt like I should defend the people on this site who were just trying to put their opinion, just like everyone else.

We attend Halloween events at our church. Our children's ministry does a nice Bible story that ties in with the pumpkin carving and then trunk or treat. We've found that it involves all ages of church members and the kids get to wear their costumes and play games and it brings in families to our church.

We love Halloween, we are Christians and we are NOT devil worshipers and it ticks me off that just because people enjoy Halloween that others have to get all up in there business and be judgemental. Everyone is different. I was taught as a Christian not to judge others.
We don't do scary costumes or really even scary decor, my son is usually his favorite superhero that year. I decorate my home, but it's more fall decorating. This year I did decorate with some cute glittery skulls that I put into a big apocathery jar for display. Anyway my point, everyone has their own beliefs, their own traditions, or way of doing things and there is NOTHING wrong with that, to each his own, right? I don't judge anyone that does something different that I do, nor will I think less of them in anyway. Every year for Halloween all the family takes the kids trick or treating at Grammas, they trick or treat in the neighborhood their, gramma makes a big pot of chili and we all sit and answer the door and see all the little kiddos dressed up. It's a fun family time for us. Anyway my point is that just because you don't celebrate no need to bash those that do, we are all different and I am pretty sure bashing people isn't in the bible either.
Everyone have a Safe and Happy Halloween!Smile

Love Halloween, oh yeah and my family celebrates All Saints Day the following day...evil people that we are!! LOL ! This year my 6 year old will be a Christmas present, all that is needed is a big box, wrapping paper, and a pretty bow. My 12 year old will be a fairy, haven't started on that one yet...but if anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
