Shut Down After Your Work Day

Category: Health & Beauty
The bank opens at 9:00 a.m., closes at 5:00 p.m. and is closed Saturday and Sunday, so should you. Take some stress off and make yourself quit thinking finances after and before these times. Put a bullitin board up where you will see it everyday and put your bills and other important things to remember on it. Hang a calendar beside it so you can write important dates and see what day of the month it is. All of this will help unclutter your mind and will relieve some stress. Constantly trying to remember these types of things can become overwhelming and frustrating to say the least, and if you skip a beat-devistating. Relying only on your memory for these things can create a lot of stress when your brain has a full desk. Treat business like business. After you have done what you can do put up the "CLOSED" sign. Have some fun with your brain do a puzzle if you want to strengthen your memory skills.

when cooking your turkey in the oven be sure to add some water to the bottom of your pan. it helps with the juices from the turkey .. and you can use it to baste the turkey while its cooking. also keeps the pan from going dry.

Great tip! I also was constantly thinking of that and then I decided to be a better steward of my finances, do thing frugally and the time now I spend with my kids and husband, enjoying them rather than focusing on the bills all the time. It makes for a less stressful life!!

@ Sheryl - I think her point is to have a set time where you shut-down...adjust it to your schedule.
Shirley - My husband and I both work from home...and now we have a 5-month old.  We both tend to be workaholics and we typically have a daily discussion about what needs to be done & when we're planning on winding down from WORK and shifting into HOME.  Otherwise, I think we would go crazy.

That's great for stay-at-home moms, but I work, and don't get home untill after 5.. So if I go by this  idea, finances would never get done!

Interesting, but how can you discuss important financial decisions and work on a budget together if you don't do it when the Hubby is home (ie, evening or weekends)??

this really works. I have a calender on the fridge. I put all the bills that I owe, and put it on the day that it is to be paid on. This also works for dr. appts, or any other appt. My mother taught me this, when I struck out on my own.Smile

I love this idea.  I have been a stay at home mom for 5 years now, and the only way I can keep our finances in order is to treat it like a desk job-and even then Im not that great at it. What a relief to know that other moms dont keep it all in their minds for easy recall.

Excellent suggestion for everyone!  Men and Women/Dad's & Mom's we all need to de-stress and turn off our work mode in the evening.  We've worked all day and need some time off to regenerate our minds.  Thank you for this post... I'm closing my work mind at 6pm tonight!!  Ta-Da :)

Kiss I learned the hard way what stress can do to.  It's very important to take a break when needed.  Your body let you know when, but many of us ignore them and keep going.  That super women attitude will come back to hurt you, believe me.  Chilling out is better, find a moment for yourself, give yourself what you call stress free time, may it be a special bath time, music, candles, white wine, a dark quiet room, take the time and chill out.  It can't kill you to do that but stressing can kill or harm the body in such a way, it would feel like you killed it.

That's a great suggestion.  So simple too and worth the effort.  Maybe I'll finally get a peaceful evening.  Thank you.

LOL, I would have to seriously declutter to find a spot to hang a bulletin board.  Actually I have the board, I just need to de-clutter it of past family photos.I love the idea though, and as soon as I get rid of the mice in my kitchen, I'm going to give it a try.  Bleach water here I come... then it's peppermint oil on cotton balls for those nasty little stinkers!=) Gayle
