Independence Day Thoughts
The 4th of July is a great time to think of all the things we like about our country. Won’t you share some of the things you like best about living in the good old U S of A? |
For me, Independence Day is more than a day to celebrate the greatest country in the world being born, it is also my actual birthday. Many people take for granted what this date means...we need to get back to the basics...it is a day of honor, sacrifice, and gratitude for our nation. Hold those politicians accountable if they are not honoring those who created this great nation. Make sure we keep the spirit of the "Fourth" in our hearts everyday...as for the birthday, it is a little rough to have it be my "special day" but to be honest how many people get fireworks every year for their birthday? Please be safe and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I love our country, we live in a country that many veterans have fought hard and some given their precious livs for.Freedom is not free it costs a lot to achieve freedom.Its very important that people understand this.I was at our county court house yesterday and a young veteran and his wife were trying to get tags for his pickup and you just wouldnt believe the red tape they were being put through.He wanted a veterans tag and the lady told him that it would be $ 30.00 extra.What is wrong with our society that he should have to pay extra in order to display his pride for serving our country and helping to preserve our freedom.Hearing that just saddened me for him and his wife.
Since the uprising in Iran and reading web sites on the history of killings and oppression of people not only in Iran, but Afganistan, Indonesia and other Islamic and communist countries, has made me extremely grateful as a woman that I am a free American living in a land that has been good to me.

really people !!!!! kiss a veteran ? how about this one ! try to find an american indian and thank him we can not change what our forefathers did , it is in the history books and is not going away , read about it check the history online ! the english people conquired this land , B S the natives and killed the ones that would not leave !!!!!
Happy 4th to everyone! To our troops abroad - THANK YOU for all you do! May you make it home as soon as possible after doing your jobs to bring peace and protection to not only our great USA, but to all the countries of the Earth. To those that have served before - bless you for your bravery and your heart. I am so thankful to live in the USA and have the freedoms that we do in our wonderful country. May we continue to bring peace to the world and please allow us to continue to be a loving, caring people that uses our assets and resources to help heal the world and those less fortunate.Happy 4th from the Stankorb Family in Cincinnati, OH
MY sons best friend is on of the Iraq casualities. He was only 20 and the only son in a wonderful family. My son still has not accepted the loss and frequently visits the gravesite and visits often with his parents. I now see this holiday for what it was meant to be and not just another day to party. Don't just attend a memorial on this day, go up to one of the men and women present and thank them for their service. Pray for the souls of those that gave their lives that we may have these great freedoms we all enjoy. If you know of a family who has lost a son or daughter recently, call or visit them. Time really doesn't heal all wounds and they still have a need to talk about their child, not so much the loss but to remember the child. Hug them and let them cry, both of you will feel much better.
I love the freedoms we all have . One of which is never losing the right of being able to express ourselves with the spoken word or the written word. God Bless America!!
Today America is another year older. Stronger than ever. We have Freedom of speach, and can choose our own religion. Thank-you to All Soldiers, Past and Present for keeping our Country safe. GO USA!
I am a veteran and come from a family full of veterans. To me July 4th is a reminder of what we have done right by serving our country, to protect everyones freedom.

If you knew the truth of how your country was founded you would not feel so proud.
I have studied some of the principles our country was founded on. We are not perfect but we have never said we were. Obviously you are not indigent or Do you get your computer and internet from the local free library. You should try to change what you are unhappy with starting in your local community.

This country was originally the Indians and if you look back in the history of their cultures, they believed in one true God. Then later they went away from it and the land was taken ffrom them and given to the first settlers. Since the Mayflower Compact was the first document written by free men in a free new world till the mid 50's this country was run by men and women who also believed in the same one true God. But since God was taken out of goverment, schools, law and now communities this country (which truely is the best in the world) is now being taken away from us. We owe China so much money that if they called us on that dept they would own the US of A. We need to get back to our roots and trust God.

In addition to the usual smoked ribs/chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, fireworks, with lots of friends and family, we started a tradition several years ago that includes anyone in attendance bringing something to share about Independence Day. We've had clogging to patriotic music, a piano salute to the branches of the armed forces, presentations on several of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, A history of the flag, a history quiz. Readings of Peter Mashall's prayers in Congress and this year, in addition to the "normal" stuff, we had several copies of the DOI with sections highlighted, everyone in attendance that could read, read sections and hubby read off all the names of the signers at the end...gave me chills thinking of the sacrifice these men made so many years ago so we could have FREEDOM. Too bad our current administration is trying to take those freedoms away -- socialism will come at a COST... just ask GM, and Crysler.

Independence Day...How fortunate we Americans are that we are free. But we must remember that freedom has come with a big price of lives lost over the many years. When you see a veteran, tell him "thank you" for being willing to serve our country and willing to give his absolute all should that absolute all be needed. And more important is that we thank God every day for His blessings and that includes our freedoms. We all need to stand up and shout because we are Americans; we are free to express our opinions and call our leaders what we think they are, give them our opinions that are different, worship in whatever church we choose or choose not to worship in a church. America is a great country and I am so proud to be an American; not always proud of my government but I am so fortunate to be an American.
i used to participate in things with my grandparents when i was younger up through high school and my family also did some to an extent. now however, i don't have time due that i'm a single mom, without child support now for going on the 6th year and what $$$ i do have coming in most goes towards paying bills, then what's leftover goes for food/gas which is usually $20 a week! janet
Why would I choose to buy the product before I know if I like it or not? I thought this website was to try products and give opionions. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm tired and I am going to get ready for sleep.
I truly love 4th of July. Our town of Gatlinburg holds the Nation's 1st July 4th Parade in the country! It starts @ 12 midnight. Lots of fun. Be sure to thank God for our nation. There are people in other countries fighting for their freedom & democracy. Pray for Honduras!
I LOVE our country! I believe it is an obligation that we have to be grateful and thankful for the many blessings that this country has instilled in it. We a sooooo lucky to have the freedoms that we have and to be a part of a wonderful, magnificent time in the world. God bless the U.S.A.!
