Having talked to 10 year olds and those significantly older, do you feel there is an underlying common ground between the two very diverse group of people? ie how they view life etc.

Do you believe that we know more when we are either really young or older versus when we are middle aged? I.E. 10 year olds have a way of saying exactly what is on their minds and so do our "seasoned" citizens!

Does the thinking of 10 year olds ever cease to amaze you? I am eminded daily now of how fun the thinking of 5 year old boys are and how free and happy the are. How much of this is lost by the time our kids turn 10? IE I am watching 2 five year old boys and they keep me laughing all day. Yesterday they were *eating beaver tail*! They will sing and dance, skip and run just for the fun. The 10 year old I watch is a lot more reserved.

When you heard this line from the book, "Think of yourself as a dot on a line. The things behind you are already over, so always move forward down the line.” What were your exact thoughts? I was so moved that a 10 yr old would have such a clever thought of how to move on from things in the past.

What I am really eager to know is how can a fater and a mother balance work and family life while both are workign full time. I know men and women in today's society are career focused than what we had in past where women took care of family while men earned and supported family financially. But in today's work both men and women are working and in this type of economy they both want to give their children the best. But at the same time they both have to adjust with the work and family life balance. I am thankful that I have an understanding husband who helps me out while I work full time but still towards the end of the day we are exhausted. Any tips would be helpful to still have energy and the charm for life.

How much influence does a parent REALLY have on a child's character, and does the impact vary from child to child within a family?

After talking with "Both sides of the Spectrum", where do you see our 'mindset in years to come? Will people be Nicer? Cynical? Hateful? Smarter? Willing to Accept More? There are kids that can't boil water, much less, sometimes they can't write or read. I'm hopeful for a Brighter Future. Thank You

The book sounds like a "must have" to read.  Without stepping on toes I would be interested to know how faith plays into a persons views.  Do you find that faith is stronger with the 10 year old or the 100 year old or at some point in the middle?  Thanks!

Bobby,I am a stepmom and also a teacher. Most of my students come back and tell me what a fun teacher I was. As long as you are polite and respectful your stepmom will probably treat you the same way. If, however, you do something that is against the rules or act disrespectful in any other way, you may not see the fun side of your stepmom. Does your own Mom discipline you when you break the rules? Do any adults? That is called boundary setting and any adult that loves you will help you learn where your boundaries are. As you grow older and mature, your boundaries will also expand.Enjoy this new adult in your life and continue to grow and mature. Perhaps you can even teach your immature sister a few things!

Mr. Fishman: I want to know how to teach our grandchildren about stranger safety on a "ten year old" level. They know all about the usual (not taking candy, no adult needs their help in locating a lost pet, never entering a car of any person they do not know), but what do we say about their health, safety, trusting nature as they mature?  I do not obsess about them being "taken" but with all the news reports recently (a 15 year old male kept hostage for 5 years... a 29 year old female housed in a backyard for almost 20 yeras...), HOW and WHAT do we tell them to keep them innocent and safe???                  I've put your new book on my Christmas list.  Is Santa listening?

How can a boy raised in the same family as two other brothers turn out so differently? One son is a physician, one a minister and the other killed 3 people for fun? is it the birth number? Is there really something to that? Thanks.
