Our family loves Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. The drive to the cape is only a little over and hour and the ferry ride to the Vineyard is a short beautiful ride

Pinson Mounds Archaeological Park is a free park and Museum. Also has camping cabins. It is located south of Jackson TN. Another local park is Chickasaw State Park, just down the road.It also has camping cabins and a swimming place. I love going to both of these State Parks.

Catalina Island-Avalon. This gem is only an hour boat-ride away from Long Beach, CA and can be explored/enjoyed in a day. My boyfriend and I spent a Sunday there a couple weeks ago. We started with brunch and bottomless mimosas at one of the many delicious restaurants on the island. We rented a golf cart which we drove all around the public part of the island, including an amazing hiking spot overlooking the entire entry port. Also a picturesque view of the ocean from the Wrigley memorial. So gorgeous. After our excursion we took a nap on the small beach until the sun began to set which we caught the end of as we ferried back to the mainland.
