No way! We need to steer children away from the idea of credit card spending. It is cash and carry for my family.

I think this is a great idea to teach your children about using plastic. Although, I do not want my children to think that credit cards are something they need or just easy money to spend. But, this is a fantastic way to teach them how it works, and that even though they are using plastic, they are still spending their 'real' money.

I dont have children at home anymore, but sounds like a good idea. Always set a budget with your kids. If they cant follow it- good bye blank check! Get the kids to plan the budget with you- they will be more likely to follow it.

studies show it hurts to spend cash. If you use cash, you spend 30% less than with a credit card. Debit cards hurt a little less than cash but more than credit. I'll stick with cash and stay debt free. I'll teach my son the same thing

My son has a high school checking account (some banks offer them as early as 13 years old) with a checkbook, online bill-pay, debit card and text monitoring. It's associated with the parent's account. It's FEE FREE. It helps him build his credit. It teaches him responsibility and I monitor it frequently. If he dared to overdraft, he'd be working to pay that off. He gets texts if his balance drops below $20. He gets a text if he tries to use it to pay more than he has. This is a much better way to go. I'm not going to give my children money. Money isn't given in the real world - it's earned. He does chores each week and deposits his earning (or money from jobs) into his account. We place $20 each month he can use for clothing or haircuts, but that's the only amount he's given. He's smart with budgeting, saving and spending. I've done well. I avoid ATM fees and load fees with a student checking account that has a debit card and checkbook that's all his own.

I think alot of parents do NOT really grasp this concept.. If you havent realized these days everywhere does accept a Debit or Credit card.. This is NOT a credit card there is also NO interest.. And the service fee of $0.75 is cheap & very small in comparison to purchasing a Visa gift card that can cost $4.99 & up!! Also every ATM has a fee. And with this card, this fee is what a $1.50? Really too is a small fee considering I have seen some ATM fee's as high as $4.00(thats being conservative too).. Since the Parents are Re-Loading the card & it is NOT an automatic thing, I say what a great idea! :) And as for the name of the card? I believe it is called MARKETING & I would have to guess this is marketed to draw kids in.. Obviously a Parent did NOT pick this name... However no matter the name when I did my homework & researched the other options is is not bad at all. Actually it is very inexpensive in the long run. And most banks I have spoken to will make the parent accountable with overdraft fee's should your teen screw up! And they will link your own personal account to the teens account.. I say this is Awesome & I am getting this for my teenager.. I really hope parents do thier own homework before they judge based on what others are commenting on.. Thanks for letting me share....

I would definitely consider this, because I like the concept. HOWEVER, I have to agree with so many others out there about the name. It just gives the wrong impression to our kiddos! Also, I'm not sure if this would be the best route fo my family. I do love the concept, but it would really depend on how much the regular fees are.

No way. The name alone is enough to steer this mom clear. I would rather sign for a checking account and actually teach my child to balance a check book for free.

Not a fan of the name myself. I would rather open them a checking account w/a debit card & opt out of the overdraft option so their allowance can be deposited with no monthly fees added.

I like it. I can see exactly what my kids spends their money on and have a conversation every week. With cash they spend it and that's it. How many kids save receipts? Keep in mind the PARENT has to load money on the card. If your kid spends his allowance all in two days money is not automatically put on. I feel that a lot of parents aren't grasping the full concept of this. How do your kids buy music or aps on itunes? How will they learn how to use a card when they get older. This is a great tool to start teaching about financial responsibility.

I do not agree with this idea. Kids should have some type of money management classes or plan set up with there parents (dividing up there money, allowance or whatever)that teaches them how to spend, save, and invest.

This is one of the most ridiculous ideas I have yet to come across to teach children responsibility with money. Like everyone else said, the title alone is insulting.
