Crumb Crust, Anyone?
Category: Home
I love to cook and bake. But sometimes we end up with more baked goodies than my household can eat. Rather than waste brownies and cookies that are going stale, use your food processor to break them into crumbs and store them in the freezer. Next time you prepare a dessert recipe that calls for a "crumb crust" (such as cheesecake), use the crumbs you've stored in the freezer, instead of graham crackers or other store bought ingredients. You can also make crumbs from nuts using your food processor, and store them in the freezer, too. When you add broken up nutty crumbs to your crust recipe, you add nutritious proteins and omega-3's. The only problem is if someone asks you for the recipe... Your crumble crust may be a little different every time, but it will always be delicious!
