My husband beat cancer this year!  He fought the battle of his life- I was by his side every step of the way- we did it!  Our friends and family gave us their love and support- it gave us the ammunition to keep going.  Thank you God for your mercy and grace.

My husband and I are still going strong after 10 years of marriage, deaths, sicknesses, financial hardships, and all. We made it through. I thank God everyday for such a strong husband.

This was a learning year for us...learning about nursing homes, Medicare, and various medical protocols, as we got my father-in-law settled into a series of nursing homes. He's finally in what we think is the right place. Unfortunately, he will most likely outlive his money, so we are in the process of learning about Medicaid, too. This was a special year, but not particularly GOOD special.

That's great news, Susan! Hope his health continues to improve, and you get some needed rest.

We became empty nesters this year and so it was a year of transition and new adventures.  My husband started a new position that involved more travel.  I was able to join him on one of his trips.  I pursued my goal of becoming a Master Gardener and completed my certification in May.  Our favorite memories really are of family times with our grown kids...usually around holidays and breaks from school.

We welcomed our first child, a beautiful baby boy, in July. The time has flown by and we feel so lucky every day to have him in our family. We can't wait to see what he'll become in 2012.

I don't this would qualify as "special;" however, this year I lost my sister (46), and my mom I'm told probably won't make it to the end of the year.  It's been a tough year.  If any good comes from this, it's that I appreciate each day more and more and am thankful for what time our family has spent together, and makes me appreciate each moment with my husband and children.  Life is short and there are many lessons to be learned along the way.  You just have to be open to learning those lessons.  There is a reason for everything and having a deep sense of faith and trust in God has got me through this difficult year.  I am looking forward to 2012.  May it be a blessed one for everyone.

2011 was definitely a memorable year for me and my family. I graduated with my Bachelors and started a Masters program. We danced in the Carnaval parade and had a blast. I met an amazing group of 14 people, whom are incredibly supportive, that I'm starting an exciting adventure with. An intelligent and loving man is now in my life. And on Christmas Eve my sister announced that she and her husband are expecting their second child. Every year has it's difficult moments, sometimes days, and even months, but then I remember how much I have been blessed and how many people I love that love me back. Then through reflection I feel a sense of peace and know that I have people that support me in every endeavor.

There were a lot of rough patches, but everything turned out alright.  I faced my fear of dentists.  I know at my age I should not be afraid of them but I am.  I hadnt been to a dentist in AGES and was scared that he would find a lot wrong with my teeth although I didnt have any copmplaints or pains.  He was nice and did not lecture me why I had not been to a dentist in so long.  He took xrays and didnt find a thing wrong with my teeth - not even a cavity! All he recommened is a good  thoroughcleaning.  I am lucky I have good teeth but will not ever wait that long again.  I got a Kindle during the summer and learned how to work it.  I talked about it so much that my older sister got one too. My oldest sister passed away in Dec 2010 of stage 4 breast cancer so 2011 started bleak and dark.   I know she is with us all every step of the way and looking down on us.

Watching my 6 month old turn into a 18 month old was very special to me.  Looking back over the pictures for 2011, it is just amazing how much he has grown and learned this year!

2011 has been an amazing year. Finding out at 40 that I was very unexpectedly pregnant and then giving birth to the most beautiful baby boy. I left my 11 year career as a restaurant manager and became a stay at home mom. This past year has completely changed my life. For the better!

This past year has been a tough one for us. My son, with his epilepsy, and I lost one of my 2 part-time jobs. But God has been by our side this year and we still managed to have a wonderful Christmas with our family. Things are looking up, got more hours at my other part-time job. Looking forward to a much better 2012.

We had alot of ups and downs this year but the one thing that made 2011 special for me was that I finally met my goal of reading the Bible from beginning to end. It opened my heart and eyes to alot of things. Reading the Bible from cover to cover was the highlight of my year.

I am a teacher and I had wonderful kids to teach this year. I am a mother and my daughter is growing into a terrific human being. I am a wife and I love my husband. We have plenty of food, warm house, and are still able to appreciate the small joys in life like reading a great book or watching a terrific movie. Life is great!
