Creative Craft Over-Flow?

Category: Home
When you need to clean up, clean out, and generally purge some of those craft supplies you bought with perfectly good intentions (but haven't touched since), consider donating them. Community art centers and local groups often serve children, those with special needs, hospital patients, and adults in rehabilitation - with art therapy sessions and art/craft classes. It's well known that having a creative outlet fosters better physical and mental health. So rather than let those unfinished projects get to you (making you feel guilty while occupying valuable storage around your home), give those supplies to your community!

This is wonderful to do.  I, personally, am a teacher and love when craft items are donated to my school.  We can always use them.  I love being creative in the classroom and our budget doesn't always allow for me to do the great things I would love to!!

PLease consider your local schools as well. Teachers spend thousands of dollars of their own money each year for supplies, and anything is usually welcome!

So true!  It really helps the senior center where I work, when we have these donations.. and the great thing is-- they make things like baby hats and lap blankets for others. So, it's all passed along and the good is paid forward!

Good idea because I am a crafting hoarder! I try to upcycle containers and boxes and it starts to clutter the house. Free cycle is awesome too

I work at a day training center for mentally challenged adults where I teach art and music.  We are always happy to receive craft donations as our budget is very tight.

Where I live, Rochester, NY, theres a craft shop that is stocked soley by donated craft items.  The shop is completely staffed by volunteers & benefits an area seniors program.

What a great idea,  My grandson is getting to the age where he likes to work on crafts too.  So I will try to come up with ideas for,  him to work on when he comes over too,

Great idea!  I would include donating it to your nearest hospice.  More and more hospices around the country are using art therapy with their patients and, beiing one of their patients, I have found it to be very rewarding in so many ways.

This is a great idea. I work with children who do not have parents & who love crafts & opportunities to enjoy the simple activities many parents have on a daily basis. Please don't forget foster homes & residential treatment centers for donations

these are all great ideas.  When I had a car I used to buy things for my churches Sunday School program.  Like after christmas, halloween, and when back to school comes too.

Great idea...I also give to our local elementary schools. Teachers often have to purchase art and craft supplies with their own money (despite what is sometimes said, I don't know of any teacher in my area that makes the mega bucks people say they do!). I know first hand (my daughter is a second grade teacher) that they appreciate any supplies that are donated to them.

Great ideas, crafts are a great way to de-stress and many community organizations would love the supplies.  Senior centers  would love them

Great Idea!  Where I live we have an idea store that takes almost anything used or recycled.  Many teachers and people in the community shop there.  Money given back to schools.  Brenda  from Illinois
