WD-40, if you have any on hand works great for this purpose too.  I've used to it help remove rusted screws, bolts, etc. and it worked every time!

Wow, we could have used this a week ago when we had a plumbing problem.  I will definitely keep this in mind for next time.  Have never heard this before.
