We have a family reunion every October, there are about 80 of us.  We rent condos in the white mountains of New Hampshire.  We visit Santas Village every year and take a group picture- this is always on our Christmas Card and in our yearly calendar!

My brother and sister in law just came for a 4 day visit. They stayed with my dad and visited with him for a couple of days and then since my dad and step mother go to bed really early they would come over to my place for dinner each night and we could visit.

We gather together and tell stories about when we were young to our grandchildren that are teenagers....they get some good laughs out of hearing them.

Both my family and my in-laws enjoy the game "Settlers of Catan." So whenever either side comes to visit, after the kiddos are in bed, we usually enjoy playing the game together with a bowl of ice cream. :)

We TALK and EAT!! Once in a while, someone is new to visiting Texas and wants to see the sights, but mostly it's about spending time together.

We are all big card players in our family...on bothnmy husband's and my side. For the winter holidays we sip hot cider (sometimes spiked, sometimes no) while the cards are being laid down and the laughs are free flowing. Family....my favorite part of any holiday.

My daughter and son-in-law live in CA - I live in PA. When I go there to visit I stay at home with my 9 year old granson so the two of them can go out alone.  When my daughter and grandson come to PA, my daughter goes to visit her sister one day and my grandson and I bake cut-out cookies.

There's always pumpkin and pecan pie around.  My grandma's recipes.  I try to keep up with a lot of the cooking traditions my family has had.  Normally we have fun making homemade ice cream and playing Scrabble until our eyes hurt.

In my family we would get together for thanksgiving. On Friday morning we would all go Black Friday shopping. After we came back completely worn out we would have turkey sandwishes for lunch. Then we would decorate the christmas tree after a much needed nap :)

I don't have relatives coming to spend Thanksgiving at my house, but it is a tradition in my family to get my children and my husband  involved by helping with the thanksgiving dinner.

Family time is paramount!!!  I am blessed to have both my mother and my in-laws in one city!!  We go to my mom's house and eat her home cooked everything!!  While my husband naps on the couch and the kids are watching the game, me and my mom reminensce about the funny, tough, and memorable moments over dessert!!  After partial food digestion....we then venture to my in-laws for a night of fun, family entertainment, and more delicious food!!!  OMG....what would Thanksgiving be without FOOD?!?!?  A time to L-O-V-E!!  I LOVE THANKSGIVING!!

Both Thanksgiving and Christmas involve big meals.  Turkey for Thanksgiving and a Ham for Christmas.  My husbands Aunt is the cookie maker of the family so she always makes up a big batch of cookies to bring over which is the highlight of the feast!

Our family tradition is having our Christmas dinner get together after Christmas - my two brothers and their families and my family get together at one of the houses - either in CT, MA, or NJ. It's only for one or two days, but it's fun. On my husband's side - its a closer destination, and everyone meets at his parents home on Christmas day.

we bought a house that is located between our kids so none of them have to drive very far.  we have most of the birthdays and holidays at our house. we don't normally have any 'traditions' when we get together. We just enjoy everyones company and catch up with everyone. at the thanksgiving gathering after we eat we like to 'fight' over the black friday ads and start planning our shopping trip.  I like to make my list and then give it to my kids to get and i watch the grandkids so they don't have to take them with them.  i am doubly blessed then.  i get to have the grandkids and i get the stuff i want without all the stress.  lol   there are around 20 of us which doesn't include friends that the grandkids bring along.  last year there were only 3 of us who had enough money to purchase gifts for everyone, so we decided instead of everyone bringing gifts for everyone we would only bring gifts for the little ones and play this dice game for the adults. everyone brings 10 wrapped gifts and none of the gifts can cost over $1 each. then we put them all in a pile and throw a couple of dice.  if you get a 7 or 11 you get to pick a gift from the pile.  it really gets hectic.  a timer is set to have this all done in a certain amount of time.  then when all the gifts are gone the timer gets set again and you throw the dice again and if you get a 7 or 11 you get to take someones gift they have.  after that is done, we take turns opening the gifts and see what we were all 'fighting' about.  lol  it is a lot of fun.  we might have finally started a tradition with that one.

We like to stay in hotels so we can come and go and our leisure. We spend as much time as possible with family and friends but just eating out and venturing out creates new memories that we always cherish. going out and finding things to do and see seems to be our thing. later when we return to the hotel we talk about what we did.
