I'm reading a few non-fiction books, but I like to keep at least one novel around for summer reading.  So I'm reading quicksilver by Neal Stephensen.

Orange is the New Black -- not an average "prison life" book...non fiction. The author, just a normal girl, who lived a bit of a wild life right after graduating college, gets arrested 10 years later, long after she stopped her illegal activity.  This book chronicles her months behind bars. Nothing over the top, but very thought provoking.

I'm a teacher so I am reading a few middle school books to make sure they are appropriate for my classroom! Always fun to read young adult fiction :)

I read the entire Sookie Stackhouse Series in a month!  Loved them and couldn't put them down.  I just finished a book by Susan Wiggs called "The Summer Hideaway" and it was great!

  • Embarassing?  No way, why can't we enjoy the series?  I mean, if we want it totally adult, tune into HBO's True Blood, it is definitely requires you to be more mature.  But I absolutely love the Twilight Series, and since going to see Eclipse have decedied to re-read Breaking Dawn.  My husband even lost his "mancard" after going to New Moon, then questioning me if the "books are really better?"  Of course-  He then read the last two in the series in less than a week, and people, my husband doesn't read much more than his Sportsman Newspaper!  I cannot wait for the next movie installments to see things come to screen; it's always fun to compare the book to the movie.  (Plus, the adult characters are tempting to; Loved hearing Peter Facenelli declare that he really wished his vampire power was something neater than "just compassion!")  I could see another book possibly added???

I'm in the middle of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell by Susanna Clark. I've been reading this one for a long time--it is SO good, but with a 6-month-old I haven't been able to get through the 1000+ pages yet!

  • I'm not embarassed to say that I have also read the Twilight series and thoroughly enjoyed them.  I too was being hounded by my daughters to read them, but I don't know about seeing the movies.  Oh yeah, I'm 65 and also enjoyed the series of books by Emily Giffen, also suggested by my daughters.  As they say on the T.V. ad about Life cereal, "try it, you'll like it".
