Remove Carpet Stains!

Category: Home
To remove carpet stains, spray or soak the stain with Ammonia. Place a white cloth over the stain and steam iron over it. After the cloth has cooled, it will have lifted the stain! You may have to do this several times for deeper or darker stains, but it works!

Thanks for the info on removing carpet stains.  I have bought what I thought would rid my carpet of stains.  Obviously they did not.  Thank you, thank.

Red slurpee stains do not come out of carpets!  Our oriental rug will forever have a light pink area that even the carpet cleaners cannot remove without removing the red color from the carpet.  Avoid red drinks at all costs!! We learned the hard way.

Ina,

For candle wax ...take several paper towels and lightly iron till gone this will take more then one attempt, lifting the wax little at a time. Throw away paper towel dont reuse or you'll find the wax resettling in the carpet.

I just use SHOUT. It's suppose to just be for laundry, but I find myself using it more for carpet cleaning. Once,I unknowingly stepped in a piece of my eyeliner that broke off. I had a trail of eyeliner all the way to the bathroom. I thought it would never come out. Between using SHOUT and some "elbow grease," I got up all the eyeliner. I put my SHOUT to the test the other day when I spilled some JB Weld. It works great y'all! Laughing

Beware of this remedy if you have cats or dogs who might be prone to have 'accidents'. Ammonia smells like pee to them (old pee turns to ammonia), so they might assume this spot is marked as an appropriate elimination location.

Wow!  Are you serious?  doesn't the ammonia harm the carpet, or discolor it?

Ina using ice on the wax will dry it up making it easier to scrape out. I've also heard of placing a paper towel on the spot and then placing an iron on a cloth over that to melt that wax and absorb it as it melts, but I would proceed with caution on that one.

Ammonia has a strong smell, so is anyone adding anything to calm down the smell while they are steaming the carpet?
