Use Vinegar to Clean Windows!

Category: Home
Instead of buying expensive brands of glass cleaner, use distilled vinegar! It cleans as good or better and is much cheaper!

when using vinegar and water to do windows, use newspapers for the rag.  No lint, and really makes them shine.  This is how my dad always did ours.

I sometimes use vinegar for windows; but I've discovered another inexpensive cleaner - the bug formula of windshield wiper fluid used in cars.

I use vinegar to clean windows that had a lot of hard water and clean really well, my windows are sparkling clean. I think vinegar clean better that the window cleaning you get from the store.

And you can use up some of the old newspapers that are lying around to achieve a streak free shine on glass, windows and mirrors. I have always added 2 parts vinegar to 1 part water for best results.

I found a new use for vinegar just this morning. I have been having a bit of an ant invasion the past couple of days. I have mopped, put down traps, salt and cucumber rinds (all are suppose to help rid sugar ants). Today I mixed water with vinegar and wiped it along the trim and on the floor of my kitchen. I have only seen 2 ants since, it is working!

Vinegar is superb in the dishwasher too!  I add 1/4 cup when I start a load and it omits the need for a ri nse agent :)

I want to clean my glasses.  Will the vinegar do this cleaning?  Full strength vinegar or a mixture of vinegar and water?  What effect will the vinegar have on my eyes?

For the BEST clean windows, use old newspaper instead of paper towels. The newspaper leaves no streaks or lint.

I use vinegar in a spray bottle all over the place, countertops, bathroom cleaning, windows - in fact our plumber today told us to keep the kitchen pipes happy, mix vinegar and baking soda  down the kitchen drains once a month!

I love using vinegar for cleaning!  I use a cup of vinegar and a cup of baking soda with my regular detergent when I'm washing my husbands stinky gym clothes...the combination takes strong odors out of everything, even high performance athletic wear like underarmour!   We also just got a new puppy and our cat was pretty insulted when he first came home and sprayed my new Vera bradley bag...but I used vinegar and baking soda to get the cat urine smell out and it worked great!

Vinegar is the only cleaner I use.  I dilute it and use it to dust.  Wet and ring out a rag to wipe something down and use a flour sack towel to dry it (no lint left behind). It's great because you can use it on the furniture, electronics and delicate knick knacks and no residue gets left on your furniture.

I mix 1/4 cup vinegar with 16 oz of water in a spray bottle and use it to clean the windows, counters, stove-top, laminate floors, door knobs, light switches, baby's high chair, sinks, dining table... The list goes on. It stinks when you spray it but once you wipe and it dries the smell is gone. It's a great chemical free *think GREEN* EFFECTIVE way to clean.
