I love my herb garden!! It has come in so handy. I also love to grow tomatoes, salsa all summer long. My kids love watching everything grow and they will eat more vegetable because they worked hard to grow them.

I am having a great time planting this year.  Not only did I rework some of my beds and plant flowers. I have planted several tomato plants in large pots along with some dill, chives, parsley, strawberry and I also planted some tomatoes in two of the topsy turvy containers for an experiment.  In the ground I planted a couple more tomatoes, cucumber, broccli and am giving asparagus green beans a try.Inside, I am enjoying watching more herbs grow in my Aero Grow.  I love this time of year. Cool

No veggie garden this year,  but I have a flower garden that is startling to look pretty.  My red and yellow tulips both bloomed in tine for Easter morning.  I have grape hyacinths that are coming up, and will plant some marigold seeds at the end of the month. Gardening is both good exercise and a fun way to spend time outside.

I started my son with a garden last year, but the grubs or slugs took it over and nothing really grew. Any ideas on how to get rid of them? Maybe earth friendly ways?? Thanks

I also grow rhubarb, its very easy! I have a big vegetable garden which I plan to make even bigger this year. I want to plant more and last year it was crowded. I also have a herb garden, those are the easiest things to grow. You cant kill them, they will grow anywhere and everywhere. There is nothing like walking out and picking fresh tomatoes, zucchini and herbs for supper.

We love our garden! We've had it for a few years and am now able to preserve much of what we grow for the rest of the year. My biggest tip is to plant a border of either onions or marigolds...it will keep the critters away.  If you have a smaller area to garden in grow it UP rather than out.  You'll have a bigger harvest because you've used less space.

When I was a kid, I remember this huge zucchini we grew in the backyard :) :).  This year, I am doing a raised garden for the very first time.  Oftentimes you can get dirt for free from farmers.  One of the tips they told me was to make sure that I hit the grass beneath it with Round-Up or something similar a few days before putting the dirt on it.  Am really looking forward to doing it.  A friend and I also planted some seeds for sprouts the other day and that was a blast!

I wouldn't think of not planting a garden!  Even though mine is relatively small, I grew over 1000 pounds of food last summer, through intensive planting.  We had more than we could eat or preserve, so we shared the bounty with family and some less fortunate people.  This year's gardening season is just now getting underway, with early crops being directly planted and others being grown under lights for planting next month.

I have two small beds.  I try to get the most of the the little space.  I have planted cool weather crops - spinach and radishes now.  when they die off I will plant my tomatoes in the same space.

We have a green thumb at my house. Not only growing veggies but flowers and house plants. Trying our best to be as organic as possible. That means to allow the wildlife to do the natural thing, eat the critters that eat your plants. By keeping a water and food source that attracts them to the yard. I blanch and freeze what we can. I am not a very good canner. Heres a plug ... I got from Oprah show those vacummn sealers are GREAT! My two favorite things about my garden is to look out my yard to see all the activity and colors, when I go to the grocery store able to pass by the 2.99lb. veggies most the year long. Money mouth

underground items: radishes, onions or potatoes need to be planted in dark of moon.  I always thought it was an old wives tale, but it truly works better than just planting everything at one time.

I LOVE my garden (flowers, veggies, fruit trees & berries)!  Just learned that here in the midwest you can plant root crops in the fall & they grow all through winter... just harvested some carrots! Last year I taught myself canning & would love to expand the garden , if the hubby will let me.

We already have rhubarb growing well, about 7" tall so far!  Also growing like crazy are the raspberry bush, blueberry bushes, chives and scallions!!  Just planted herbs this morning, and will plants other veggies in containers when it's time.  Planting grapes next week too!  Very optomistic of the gardening season this year!

I also have little space, so last year I planted leaf lettuce, parsley and cilantro as a cheap ground cover in my tomato bed. It kept the weeds down and I picked/ate them until the tomato plants got big and the weather too hot. I noticed the parsley is coming up again this year :)

this year I did not want a large garden so for the kids we got a few old tires filled them with dirt and let them paint them different colors and plant seeds in them.   we have carrots lettuce, tomatoes. radishes and cucumbers all in a colorful garden of tires in different colors and the kids loved doing it and watching it grow

I grew up with vege gardens and have continued in our household.  We have a small plot but reap large rewards.  We installed a six foot cyclone fence now and I plant pole beans and snap peas next to the fence and they grow up the fence (saving a lot of space).  We had some landscaping done last year near the vege garden so I decided to make art out of the vege garden.  I spray painted an old iron headboard hot pink and grow cucumbers on it.  All of my tomatoe stakes are spry painted "Hot" colors.  I use bamboo poles spray painted "hot colors".  And two additional trellises sprayed "hot" colors for additional cucumbers.  I canned pickles and jalapenos last year and froze peppers and green beans.  Also have 4 different herbs and radishes and beets.  I would be lost without our vege garden.  Size is about 8' X 18'.  Need to rotate plantings every year and fertilize with an all purpose fertilizer once a month all winter for best results.  Also, use soaker hoses.

We are getting ready to start our extensive veggie garden. But we live in upstate New York so it could still snow here... So for now our little plants are in inside. My children love to help pick peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, broccoli, etc.

I'm down in Tampa, and found out the hard way that growing basil does much better if you put it in a place that is shaded in the hottest part of the day.

I always start my garden right after the last cold front in Florida.  I grow Collard Greens,Turnip Greens,Hot Peppers,Bell Peppers,Okra,Cabbage and Tomatoes. My Garden is always turning very nice ,even if i so say myself. TIPS: start your seeds inside to control the water & temp once you have your plant started plant after the ground is warm.
