GERMANY! I took my daughter when she was four and we visited so many castles and wineries, it was awesome (much more fun and information than Disney - which we've also done). Next on the list is Petra, although I'd also like to go to a rainforest! On the contrary, my husband and I usually escape to Couples resorts in Jamaica!

Singapore! My son and daughter-in-law treated me to almost 3 weeks there, when she was working in that country for a time, and it is absolutely the most amazing place I have ever been. One morning I was in a high end department store like one might expect to find in any large U.S. city, and that afternoon, I found myself in a side street bazaar, haggling over prices for some beautiful piece of cloth or artwork. And Singapore has got to be the safest place on the planet. We were out one night, about two blocks from the apartment, and I wanted to go home...to walk alone and just enjoy a beautiful night. And my son, who is very protective of me, and would not permit me to walk that far alone here in this small, rural PA town, asked if I was sure I wanted to go alone... if I was sure I knew the way. And those were his only concerns was about me walkling alone at nearly 11pm. Singapore is that safe. And it is far more beautiful than I could begin to describe here. I cried when it was time to come home, and if not for the fact that all my family is here, I honesly don't think I'd have gotten on that plane for the return flight.

The American West - It is varied and wild and wonderful!! I LOVE Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons and could go every year. Take a hike (where allowed) off the beaten path. Stay in non traditional places (tent only campsite at Jenny Lake is quiet and beautiful). Eat local cuisine - not the fast food meals. We have also enjoyed hot springs spas in the temperate rainforest in Washington, the wineries of the Walla Walla Valley of Washington, the ski mountains in Colorado in the summer for hikes and Alpine slides, the wonder and desolation of Dinosaur National Park. This year we plan to see the Grand Canyon - though my husband refuses to do the donkey rides!

Gainesville, FL - "Devils Millhopper State Park (sinkhole)". This is one of the strangest but coolest spots in Florida! In the middle of a residential area in nflat and hot central Florida, there is this 120-ft deep sinkhole. You go down steps and bridges to the bottom and you feel like you are suddenly in a tropical rainforest complete with little waterfalls. The temperature drops as you decend even in the heat of the summer. If you are driving on I-75 through Gainesville, take an hour or so and go take a look! http://www.insideflorida.com/detail/devils-millhopper-state-park/

Hiroshima. An unexpectedly warm, open, welcoming city, despite the incredible devastation 50 years ago. The Peace Museum is astounding, the other sights (castle, gardens) well done and in multiple languages. Everyone we met wanted to talk; we became aware that the atom bomb survivors are dying and many want to share their stories with you - they learn English just to be able to speak with Americans. It was a wonderful experience; I am so glad we went. ps - the egg/cabbage dish, okonomiyaki, reaches perfection here!

santorini, greece. one of the greek isles. in order to get up the mountain, the most fun way is to take a donkey. it is both the most exciting, yet frightening thing i've ever done. the donkey goes up a winding road, which overlooks the crashing waves below! if you ever go this is a must. truly, the best vacation i've had.

THE CITY MUSEUM in st louis is a great place for kids and parents to run and play all day and into the night. it is priced reasonably and you can leave and come back later the same day if you want. it is made of recycled products and has tunnels, underground caves, slides and secret doors. Also, Sleeping Bear dunes in Michigan is really fun too. Great for families...also take time to go to the Cherry Bowl drive in just minutes from the dunes. It is a true family place and brings me back to the days when drive ins were the rage.

Great Wolf Lodge...not a fabulous destination like Germany...but a nice, quick getaway. We have only been to the one in Grapevine, Texas but we love it. When you see the price per night, you may wonder if it is worth it. It is. You get to play at a temperature controlled indoor water park for a day...it is fantastic. The kids LOVE it. They also have a "magiquest" game where the kids go up and down the stairs and through the main halls searching for clues....my 7 year old son LOVED that. The rooms are nice and kid friendly...they have a spa, arcade, build a wolf, crafy room, and several eating places. The best part is every night @ 8:00 pm they have a story time. All the kids meet down in the lobby in their pajamas...it is one of the most precious things I have ever watched!!

Sarasota, FL- Siesta Key beach is awesome! The sand is so white and soft it is amazing. My girls just loved this beach. We went out to a sand barge and found over a hundred sand dollars and other marine life. It is just beautiful. We also visited Sarasota Jungle Garden and had a great time seeing the alligators, holding birds, and getting involved in the shows. My daughter was picked to volunteer for a show and ended up holding 2 Madagascar hissing cockroaches in her hand. She was shocked and brave and had a great time. It is a small, quiet little adventure that is well worth a visit. It is not your usual Florida theme park visit. I would highly recommend this trip. There are other beaches nearby that are also great but Siesta Key is the best by far.

Savannah Georgia. This was a quick trip from my Alabama home and my boyfriend and I fell in love with this charming town. The homes & multiple town squares are so beautiful & you can spend hours touring the town. So much interesting history. We enjoyed spending the evening listening to live music on the street while eating Vinny Van GO GO's famous pizza. Took a 15min drive to Tybee Island to enjoy an afternoon at the beach. It is a very romantic town. We can't wait to go back.

It so simple and basic but for our one year anniversary my husband brought me to Block Island for the weekend. I so badly wanted to go horseback riding, since I had never done it before. My husband was concerned that I would fall since they let the horses just run on the beach. He suggested renting scooters instead. I was disappointed and I was positive that I was going to crash. My test drive was ok...I drove down the road but then I got stuck! I had no idea how to turn around...the guy renting the bikes to us show me some tips and tricks and we started riding. I was shaky at first and we were driving down these boring little streets in the town. Suddenly, the side of the road opened up and I had the MOST AMAZING view of the sea cliffs and the ocean. Wind in my face on a crisp October day...it was probably the best experience I have ever had...besides getting married and giving birth to 2 beautiful little girls! He took me back on my first Mother's day and it was just a superb as I remembered...Cannot wait to go back!
