For me it was having my grandson come live with me. He is autistic so it isn't always easy but I have not once regretted it. Watching him grow and discover knew things is a Blessing. For me, nothing compares to hearing him say "funny granma" and seeing him smile when he gets a joke or makes one. It took almost 7 months for him to understand that emotion. The mornings he gets up and looks at me, saying "I missed you, granma" always make a good start to my day. I have learned a lot from him. Even from his meltdowns, (patience and how to remain calm in the midst of a storm ).Happy New Year eveyone! We wish you all the very best in 2010! Kiss

My 24 year old daughter got married, but the truly special moment involved my 22 year old son surprising her by coming home from the Air Force (he is stationed in England) to attend the wedding. We spent several wonderful days enjoying his company and celebrating her nuptials!

The best moment of 2009 was when my 41 year old husband finished his chemo and the doctors told us there would omly be a 2% chance that it would ever come back. I will always be a little worried but that had to be one of the happiest days of my life.              Vickie

I wasn't going to post this after reading the other entries (this post will seem trivial in comparison), but I thought maybe there were others that thought their post would be trivial too so I will be bold to say that for me it was when I started couponing in March.  I have saved our family up to 90% on groceries and household goods since I started.  It is a lifestyle that will carry over to 2010!

This might sound bad to some readers, but my favorite moment in 2009 was the last day we went to court. For the last 2.5 years my daughter has been battling the court system to make sure that her 3 yr old son did not have to go to a federal prison to visit his biological father. He is a very bad person, he burned down his own brother's house on Christmas Eve 3 yrs ago and did alot of other serious offenses including abuse of my daughter even when she was pregnant. The court finally ruled that there would be no contact between father and son other than letters. There was to be no contact in any form between my daughter and her exhusband. This moment lifted so much pain, pressure, stress and anxiety from all of us.

My special moment of 2009 is when my son and his two friends survived a roll over car accident they swerved to void a raccoon in the road and rolled 7 times end over end and missed a pole and power lines and there was no drinking or drugs involved and my son and his friends wore seat belts. THANK YOU LORD for them and not having any broken bones or any permanent damage.

I thought that the day the doctor said ' you have breast cancer' would be the worst day of my life. In fact it has brought my family closer together and all the 'petty' arguments seem so silly now. We all get along and found that life is more beautiful when we share it together. No more trying to one up each other.

I flew to Georgia to spend 3 days with my brother who is on dialysis 6 1/2 hours every other day, because of a kidney disease. It was such a special time for both of us and his wonderful wife who takes very good care of him. Even though I have to go though a search every time I fly anywhere(because of a auto accident I have a titainim knee) the flights, the motels and everything involved worked out so well I was amazed.  I know it was a God thing that I had this time to enjoy with my brother who is younger than I. I will be 74 in April. I did fly also to Germany to visit my baby brother several years ago. He is also in poor health. I am so very thankful that I got to do these things.Smile

My daughter had her first baby this year...and as wonderful as that is to me, I am so very proud of my daughter when it comes to how she mothers her child, takes her college classes and takes care of her household.  I tear up just thinking about it.

My most special moment of 2009 was the birth of my first grandbaby!  She was only 5 lbs. 14 oz. at birth and such a little peanut compared to my 3 who were 9 lbs., 9 lbs. and 8 lbs. 8 oz., so needless to say, her nick name is Peanut!  Her name is Juliet Marie and she is the light of all our eyes!

There are so many good things that have happened this past year that it is hard to pick just one.  I thought at first that my best moment was the birth of my identical twin boys, but I have to say that being able to bring them home the day before Valentine's Day after a month in the NICU topped even the day of their birth.  I am so thankful for them, and so happy that they are healthy and happy babies today!

I have now, and I will never forget, the courage displayed by a young boy who did his best to keep his composure as a Marine in full dress uniform knelt down before him with the tri-folded American flag extended toward him.  The flag had just moments before been draped over the coffin of the young lad's father who was killed in battle.  Altho' his chin trembled slightly, he managed to look straight into the Marine's eyes with a look that would have made his father proud.  I will include him and all the loved ones left behind by our deceased military members in my prayers until the day I die.

My best moment of 2009 was sitting in the doctor's office with my daughter, who has 4 growths on her thyroid, and getting the biopsy results of "benign"! The doctor had said 2 of them looked fine but 2 of them were almost certainly malignant.  Lots of prayer on her behalf..... a wonderful miracle just before Christmas!

I don't think that is trivial Becky. In this economy it is a great skill. I think it was a difficult thing to accomplish - at least it is for me. I'm happy you posted. :)

My most memorable moment was the delivery of my fourth baby(girl #2).She was 2 weeks over due(yes thats right fourth child and STILL over due)so needless to say I was verry anxious to deliver, but come to find out so was she . I was scheduled for an induction and 30 min after my water was broken at 4 cm she was delivered over the toilet by a floor nurse who didn't even have time to put on gloves!I thought my poor husband was going to hit the floor when I flung open the bathroom door in my delivery suite to announce her head was OUT! Three weeks later, all said and done she was worth the waite and the heart attack!
