Flip the Switch on Hair Static

Category: Home
In the winter when my hair becomes full of static I do two things. I end my shower with a tablespoon of cider vinegar poured onto my head and rub it through to the ends. You don't wash it out, the smell will fade quickly. After blowdrying I also take just a pea size of conditioner onto the palm of my hand, rub together and lightly run through my hair. It also offers some protection from the cold weather outside, too.

I also use beer!  But vinegar is my favorite smell so I will be using it.

We use a dryer sheet or a coat hanger. =)

I like the conditioner tip.  I do this each time I wash my hair, it allows it to stay soft and also keeps it from the static as mentioned.  It makes it look better since I also color it.  Actually feels healthier than it has in years.  Saves on buying special products.  Does the same thing. I use the dryer sheet and it works great.  I use a brush on my hair, so I just rub the dryer sheet over the brush.

While vinegar is great for stripping out the old product that has built up on your hair, it is very drying.  Leaving in the drop of conditioner (as long as it is spread well and evenly) is needed for dry hair or dry climate.  Please don't use the vinegar more than once every 5 or more shampoos.  The static guard tip is a good one, and also works if you spray it on your comb or brush.  There are also many great products out there that are made for fly-away hair and won't make your hair look dirty or oily, just shiney.  Keep trying until you find the right one, or ask your HairDresses for suggestions.

Try rubbing a dryer sheet over your hair, down to the ends.  It takes away all the static!  My friend/co-worker thought I was a little nutty, but now she uses the dryer sheets all the time (in the winter months, anyway)!  :)

I don't know if I would want the smell of cider vinegar. If I have too much static... I use hairspray. I sometimes also use biosilk on my hair which cuts out the static and also has a soft feel and great smell
