Grat Idea.  I use to buy the pack of dif. size covers that was actually made for food and loved those but cant find them anymore.  Will give this a try.

I use sturdy Tupperware bowls that came with covers. I've been using the same set for at least 15 years. They're microwaveable, food safe and better for the environment because they're reusable. I can also stack them on top of each other in the fridge (not something I'd attempt with a shower cap or plastic wrap!). The shower cap idea is different but not something I'd ever do.

Beware of those plastic, they may not be well suited for food and can transfer unwanted chemical.  Put leftover unto pyrex bowl with lid sounds better.

I like this idea due to the fact that you can see the food you are covering. I use foil alot and I have to guess at what's inside.

I loved those Saran wrap quick covers! I was not too pleased when they stopped making them. I STILL have the one box I purchased and wash, reuse them all the time. I have recently seen another brand of them in the stores recently but the shower cap idea is up my alley as long as they are food safe.

I think covering food with shower  cap       would be a good thing instead of plastic wrap

BJ, That is a great idea, I wouldn't have ever thunk of it. But just make sure that you don't use  it first, ha ha!  But it  truly is a great idea, now when I go to a hotel I will be sure and get my shower cap, that way it won't be wasted because you know they probably throw them away any how, yeah?  Thanks for the idea, cindygail43  3-16-2010  Good thinking Bev!!!!

A lady from my church brought pies to our open door community kitchen with shower caps on them.  That's a handy dandy idea.  If you don't travel, I beleive they can be purchased at perhaps a dollar store.

Glad or some name brand used to have a product that was out that looked like a shower cap but was food safe and used to cover foods.. I brought some back years ago. I would say 5 -6 years ago when it was out. then all sudden they stop making them or I don't know...This food covers came in I think 3 sizes... and also they were good to used on smaller children heads.

I work for a hotel chain & have seen shower caps used in many ways, but had never thought of that.

Why? I imagine not too many people are at hotels that often to provide shower caps for all of their leftovers. Plastic wrap isn't that expensive...and it's food-safe.Unless you need to cover something when you're actually in your hotel room and have some take-out leftovers. Then it's not a bad idea!
