Be Your Own Pleasure Queen

Be Your Own Pleasure Queen

Deep down we all just want to be pampered. But most of us don’t have the time or the bank accounts of Paris Hilton. So the closest we get to the Ritz on a regular basis is the crackers we feed our kids. But what most women don’t realize is that you can pamper yourself just as effectively as any 5-star hotel or hairstylist named Ramone. All that’s needed is a little inspiration and, of course, the right information.

Revere the details.Life’s details are what makes life luxurious. So invest in the highest thread-count sheets you can afford, the plushest bath towels, and the thickest terry-cloth robe. Instead of trying to be perfect in the grand scheme, strive for quality in a few everyday things.

Bring Ramone home.
Well, at least in spirit. A lot of salons make a big deal out of using special products when, in fact, it’s all hype. You can often get just as great results with commercially available stuff. Pantene’s Pro V Nature Fusion shampoo & conditioner are among our favorites. By combining Pantene Pro-V science with the essence of cassia, a naturally derived performance ingredient, Nature Fusion helps strengthen your hair and restores its natural radiance. Try the shampoo and conditioner system for damage protection leading salon brands can’t beat.* (In fact, if you’re not satisfied, they’ll give you double your money back.**) Learn more here.

Speaking of flowers...Fresh flowers can instantly change your mood. But forget those pricey, fancy floral shops or delivery services. They’ll bankrupt you. Instead, shop at your local supermarket where flowers are cheap. And while you’re there, buy some pieces of green foam called Oasis. These are the key to professional-looking arrangements. Stuff them into the bottom of vases to hold stems and water.

Give yourself a foot massage.
It’s easy, even if you’re at work. Just slip off your shoes, toss a golf ball on the floor, and roll it around under each foot. Ahhh.

Savor some sorbet. For a delicious and nutritious summer treat, make your own sorbet.Freeze a can of fruit in light syrup overnight. (Peaches or pineapple work well.) Place the can in hot water for 1 minute. Remove the lid and pour contents into a blender. Puree. Eat immediately with your feet up.

Get your own place.Become a regular at one restaurant in your neighborhood. Chat with the servers, ask to see the chef so you can personally praise him, and, most important, tip just a bit more than the average customer. Every time you walk in, you’ll be treated like royalty, which is especially nice when you bring friends.

*Pantene shampoo and conditioner system vs. leading salon brand systems based on 2007 Kline report of sales data.

A good book, my favorite chair, a cup of vanilla chai tea.............. and instructions that I am NOT to be disturbed for ONE HOUR.  I come out of it a new person. Whether I read the whole time or end up dozing with my book in my lap......... it's ME time, and that's what I need at the end of a busy day or week.

I have not taken time for myself in years, but I'm trying to learn how.  Reading was always my guilty pleasure and I look forward to being able to do more of that.

My favorite indulgence is putting the teapot on, running a bath, grabbing my book and relaxing in the bath.

I agree with Cynthia. I love to read. Afterward my last son went off to a college 3 hours away it gave me a chance to breathe. When I am not reading I am working on the next quilt.

A warm bubble bath, a glass of wine, candles and some jazz playing. That is the most relaxing thing in the world, it is not just for romance. An aromatheropy candle is the best but if not just a regular one and a DO NOT DISTURB sign completes the mood. Enjoy

My favorite would have to be a good massage but doing absolutely 'nothing' every once in a while is hard to beat as a second.

Giving myself a Votre Vu (www.votrevu.com/workathome) "At Home True European Facial" and definately locking myself in my bathroom afterward and taking a long relaxing hot bath. I also require a nice glass of Italian wine and some soft music & votives. Ahhhhhhhhh....

Every month or two, I get a hot stone massage at the local School of Cosmetology. Ninety minutes of serenity, chimes and peaceful muted music, dimmed lights and ridding my body of toxins, getting that lactic acid out and then drinking lots of water later to flush it out!!  Very inexpensive and healthy!!

Ultimately it would be a day at the spa with a message, but since that is expensive, MY time is a hot soak in the tub with White Tea bath salts, drink of my choice depending on my mood, a great book to loose myself in, and a minimum of one hour alone! I also like, just before going to bed to read my e-mails with a glass of wine. The kids are in bed by then and my husband is already passed out in fornt of the TV, so I get to spend that time alone too!!

Taking a shower and putting on lotion afterwards. Putting on makeup. Stretching. Listening to music. Reading. And my favorite would have to be just rocking a child in a dark room and relaxing myself.

relax by the fire under my cozy blanket, read, drink something yummy, and just be still. However with 4 kids under 8. That time comes when they are all in bed. But it does come and I enjoy it.
