If you've run out of make-up remover, use baby shampoo/wash. Works great for mascara, since you have to really scrub sometimes, the tear free formula won't sting your eyes.

I use lotion..any kind face lotion ,baby lotion etc.Just get a damp washcloth and squirt a couple drops of lotion on it..not only does it remove your make-up but it softens your skin so no need to put lotion on your face after.

I sell Avon but have always used Baby oil or vaseline to remove eye makeup; IF I ever wear it. Everything irritates my eyes so much I don't try many things on them and this has worked since I was a teenager so why change a good thing!Wink

1.  For that eyelid infection (Blepharitis), the actual treatment from the Eye Doctor is to wash eyelids with baby shampoo that has been mixed with water!  Just put a little bit of baby shampoo with water, use cotton ball, wipe eyelids with solution and let dry.2. Makeup removal and face moisturization: My mother first puts on regular hand/body lotion on her face, rub in lightly, then remove with a baby wipe. We use only huggies but it does not matter what kind of huggies baby wipes.  This works like a dream, costs less, and you can use all for another use!3. On trips, bring along baby wipes--great for when bathrooms don't have water and paper towels to wash your hands, are good for washing hands after eating messy things such as melted ice cream cones, and last...if on a trip and no bathing facilities, a baby wipe will make do for a "bird bath".enjoy!many blessings, beth

I agree with Jenni, I use baby wipes all the time to take off my mascara and wipes are much cheaper than eye make-up remover.

By Sarah on 12/15/2009 10:34:29 AM

You can also use baby wipes to get make up off. It also cleans your pours and keeps you refreshed. And it's cheaper than make up remover.

Baby shampoo is also great for removing Stage makeup - for plays and Halloween (Yeah I know,I'm late) It eats through the oil and keeps the skin clean and smooth.

Baby oil works even better. All you need is the little travel size. Inexpensive, and lasts for many months. Softens skin around eyes as well to decrease and prevent wrinkles.

Great idea...I wish I would have thought of it ages ago!  I've been kind of hooked on the Avon eye make up remover for a long time because it is inexpensive (around $1.99) and works really good.  But I just ran out and don't know when I'm going to be able to order more and I always have baby shampoo!  Thanks for the tip!

By Brenda on 11/13/2009 11:33:24 PM

If you don't have any of the products mentioned above for removal of your eye makeup you can also use vaseline petoleum jelly.  It's good for your skin too!

The baby oil and shampoo are great tips! I never thought of using either one. I've been using "Skin Milk" shower gel. The creamy soap pulls everything right off and rinses out of my washcloths easily. Smile

This is such a clever idea.  Now I can tell my 18-year-old daughter how she can get her mascara off without taking all of the skin off of her face.

I use the store brand baby wipes for "Sensative Skin" it takes off all of the make-up and mascara, and you don't dread trying to get the make-up off of your washcloths!

By Kaye on 11/11/2009 2:43:11 PM

I keep a bottle of the cheapest kind of shampoo you can get, in the bathroom. Usually it's the kids kind.  It's the best thing to get soap scum off the shower door. Jusy pour some on a damp sponge and rub on the glass and let it sit a minute while you shower and rinse it off. Plus, you never run out of no tear shampoo for the little ones.

Yeah-I did the stupid thing once of trying to use -yes-wait for it-Under Arm deodorant-it wasn't used- so don't freak but I thought because of the smoothness it would remove hte makeup- and it did pretty wel until one day i got it in my eye- i couldn't open it for like 2 days-so super funny

Conditioner works great as well. It doesn't foam, no tears, and it just wipes off.

If you have a toothache, and you cannot get to the dentist right away.  Try using food-grade clove oil.  It numbs the pain and may have anti-bacterial properties too!.  I called our local pharmacisit and he said that he didn't sell the clove oil any longer.  He also chuckled and said that this is an old-timer remedy.  Ask your grandparents or parents about clove oil....or even your dentist if he's an older gentleman.  Also, ask your pediatrician about sweet oil for ear aches.  You can still buy this at the pharmacy.  My grandmother used to use it on me for ear aches all the time...Antibiotics were unheard of back then for ear aches.  WinkLaura from OH

Two weeks ago I suffered from blepharitis (swollen eyelid). It was due to poor removal of my mascara. One way to prevent this painful ugly ailment is to wash off mascara with....yup, you guessed it... baby shampoo!!! Thanks for the tip, wish you would have posted it 3 weeks ago!!!!
