Sock and Go

Category: Around the House
I do one room at a time, cleaning off all tables, shelves, or anything that needs dusting. I put a clean stocking on each hand, spray the socks and dust, cutting my time in half.

I use socks when varnishing wood also.

I give my son old socks to put on his hands and feet and let him go to town. He gets a kick out of sliding on our hardwood floors and dusting with his hands!

How funny - I do this too.  My kids look at me like I am nuts!  We are such multitaskers!

Been doing this for some time. Works great!! Also works great on mini blinds. It's a great way to use socks with holes in them.

Great tip! Wink They also make nice grease rags for oil changes or other greasy jobs in the garage. Reuse by washing seperately or hand wash with Simple Green.

Stick an unmatched sock on a broom and catch all your cobwebs.

This is so cool!  And I thought I was the only one raised by her mother to use socks for dusting!  LOL  It gives you something to do with the unmated socks that you hang on to in hopes of finding its mate!  I consider it a 'green' idea.  No sense throwing something away that you can repurpose for another task  :)

This is a very good idea.  I definitely will use this one and pass it on to friends.  Thanks

that's a wonderful idea, especially with the busy daily lives we all live.  I usually don't have time to dust so I don't get to it as often as I'd like to, but this could work, thanks.

This was a trick my mother taught us when it was our turn to do the dusting.  It made it more fun and the grandkid like to dust at our house.

Sometimes your ??? get answered in strange ways! I finally sorted thru the dreaded sock basket tonight. Well when I got done I am looking at about 40 socks that I really did not want to throw away. I was wondering what can I possibly use all these socks for? I just got online opened an email and here was my answer....Thanks

I use my stocking (socked) feet to clean baseboards last thing at night before bed, then socks go to the washer.    Haven't thought of using them on my hands...Cool

I love using my husbands old socks for dusting. Great tip. I like to put one on my hand and dust my blinds.  Its so much more controled than a feather duster. You can slightly dampen the sock to really catch the dust.

Now that sounds like a good idea. I am going to use it the very next time I dust. Thank you

I love using the single socks that don't match for dusting.  You can just toss afterwards or wash and use as dusting rags.

This is a great tip, I learned it from a client I used to take care of.  He had the fuzzy footies for me to use though and then just throw them in the washer.  I still use this one, makes things so much easier!

Glad to see someone else is using their brain.  I've been doing this for years.  I just use old worn out white socks and spray with a furniture spray.

By Cathy on 11/10/2009 2:42:43 PM

This is a good idea and the one room at a time keeps you organized.  thanks
