SmileWe live in a Housing Division that is backed by a Board of Christian Life Style. I love where we live, but I also still believe that children need to be kids and do things to have fun. We don't get too many Trick or treaters out here, but, the little and bigger ones have learn to come to our house, because we make it worth their while with lots of Goodies. The kids start talking about coming to our house to trick or treat the first of the month. They get so excited. I am glad there are still some good and safe places for the kids to go. Happy Halloween to All and Many Blessings Until Next Time!Donna

SealedAs family and friends we have a Haunted Woods and all moneys collected we send to our favorite charity. This is for all ages. We have gift bags for the kids and so much fun. Everyone likes a good scare or aleast a good laugh when your sister or mother are caught off guard. Look out Grandma's can hit hard as my son (11) said as Grandma went running.Lisa

We let the kids dressup for trick or treating and make sure to send pictures to the grandparents.  My kids are still young and not fully interested in staying home to pass out candy yet.  This year we have talked about splitting time between both activities.  Our neighbor's children have a birthday the weekend after Halloween and a lot of the time they'll make it a costume party for the kids so they have one extra time to wear the costumes outside. :)Happy Halloween to you all!

My work lets ALL of the little kids from the Anoka, MN (Halloween Capital) area come in and we walk them through the building and every dept. gives them candy (10/30). We start early though. We are 1/2 way through decorating right now. We also participate in the LIGHT UP THE NIGHT Parade on the 24th at 7pm on Main St in Anoka, MN. WHERE they shut off the lights for 5 blocks and allow us to light up the floats with lights. Than this year since Sat. is Halloween we will be joining together on Main St. in Anoka and we will start the GRAND DAY HALLOWEEN Parade at 1 pm down Main St. Anoka, MN where thousands of people show up. THAN I have the in-laws over and I order Godfather's Taco Pizza... What a GREAT TRADITION!

We take part in as many Halloween events that we can all through the month.  Our favorite is a weekend long camping trip that is full of activities for the kids. On Halloween, I make "mummy dogs" for dinner and "ghost in the graveyard" cake. Sandwiches and toast that day are shaped as pumpkins. The kids enjoy it and so do we! We absolutely love this time of year!

My family goes to our friend's house.  We always bring a few different kinds of finger foods so the adults can munch on appetizers while the kids eat their candy from trick or treating.  We all walk with the kids while trick or treating so we get some exercise too.  All in all, it is a fun night for young and old!!!Laughing

WE LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN SO WE DRESS UP AND GO OUT TRICK OR TREATING.  IT'S FUN TO TAKE MY KIDS TO ALL THE HOUSES THAT I WENT TO AS A CHILD.  AFTERWARD WE HAVE A FAMILY PARTY AT AN AUNT'S HOUSE COMPLETE WITH HAYRIDE, SPOOK HOUSE AND HOBO STEW!

We get ALOT of trick or treater's at our house and every year I think more kids get dropped off in our area. We have a Halloween Party and Costumes are "Required" - we usually give away door prizes based on the voting categories for everyone's costumes. I love dressing up completely different than how people see me from day to day. I shocked the neighborhood 3 yrs back by dressing up really Goth - We had our party and then I answered the door still dressed up - I think I scared some of the kids...lol. My girls always have great costumes that my husband or myself help with ~ There hasn't been a year where we haven't decked out the front porch, wore out of the ordinary costumes and just had a blast celebrating with our kids.

My kids are older now, so I make feel boxes (shoe boxes w/holes). Peeled grapes are eye balls, oily cooked noodles are guts, their imagination makes it even scarier, because they can't see what they are touching.  This is to scarey for little ones so it's just treats.......

I don't have small children anymore and moved out of a neighborhood to a more remote house we throw a Harvest Festival. We have grandchildren, neices and nephews that are all very young. Everyone dresses up, and all the adults bring a treat so the kids can trick or treat at all the outside doors of the house. They also go on a hayride, a small trailer hooked up to the ride on lawn mower and filled with hay. The kids and a few parents go on a ride through the yard and the "grave site" (filled with those cute plastic headstones" and out to the pumpkin patch where we put pumpkins earlier in the day. They get to decorate their pumpkins, make a halloween craft, trick or treat, eat, hayride and have lots of fun. We use all the great outdoor halloween decor that we had at our home when we had trick or treaters. we usually do this the weekend before Halloween, everyone brings a dish to share and we get to see all of the little ones in the family in their costumes and on Halloween nite, nobody has to worry about getting the kids to see the other relatives in their costumes. We like to dress up and scare the kids when they come to the door.  My husband and I were Victorian era zombies last year and some kids would not finish coming up the driveway without running back for their parents after they saw my husband through the window.  We like to have a Halloween party for the adults and one for the kids earlier in the month.  We love all of the treat - Halloween cake, cookies, candy, punch, YUM!

This year we have let the kids wear their costumes whenever they have wanted to this month.  We are also planning a fun and "scary" meal.

We have found that taking the children to the movies provides a good alternative to participating in halloween.  Our children play dress-up all the time anyway and as for the candy, we will buy all one of each of their favorites.

We have a big costume party the Friday before Halloween. We invite relatives, friends & neighbors to our pot-luck style party. Some of the activities include: a costume contest, old-fasioned apple bobbing, cribbage & bingo games. It's something my family looks forward to every year- even my 81 year old mom!

We decorate the outside of our house with fog machines, strobe lights, scary music ect. Our family and friends come over and we all get dressed up and scare all kiddies, while my youngest child dresses up and passes out the candy. We've dressed up as Chucky, Freddy Kreuger, Jason, Texas Chainsaw, and many other characters. All the kids love it and come each year. We've had parents say "oh that was great, I'm going to go get my other kids and I'll be back."

I like to decorate the inside and outside I have to keep it not to scary because of my  2 1/2 yr old daughter, she likes the decorations that i put up. I will dress her up as Minnie Mouse or a Princess. I like to dress up or paint my face. We usually go to my sister in laws house and go trick or treating with my niece. This year she is having a Halloween party for the kids then go trick or treating, and after the kids go to sleep a gathering for the adults.

We decorate our house--inside and out--my husband goes with our youngest trick or treating while the older child and I hand out treats.  Everyone dresses up, and afterwards we have a movie fest.

We have decorated the house some, and the yard.  We "boo'd" the neighbors the other night too.  And my little guy has been wearing halloween themed shirts for the past week or so.  We're having a halloween party/lunch with his playgroup over to our house on Friday- and all the kids will wear their costumes.  Our trick or treat-ers are going to get balloons and candy (we got orange and black balloons and will use those party size helium tanks to inflate them on Sat).  And our street is having a block party.  We can't wait!
