Portable Trash Can

Category: Around the House
When a gift bag can no longer be used for gift-giving, I use it as a portable trash can. When one of the kids has a cold, I give them a box of tissues and a well-used gift bag. They can take the bag around with them or put it beside the bed. When it gets full, I take the entire bag and toss it.

Do you have a hard to clean tub? Rub shampoo all over (I like to use V05 and Suave myself), let it sit for an hour, and then clean. This removes ground in dirt.Wink

I need to use this idea to cure one of my husband's bad habits... he has allergies and blows his nose at night and leaves the spent tissues on the floor next to the bed. The bag is a great solution! He won't have to get out of bed to thrown them away and we won't have unsanitary used tissues on the floor!

I love this idea! What a great way to make a sick child a little happier. Also what a fun way to get your little helpers involved in cleaning!

Another use for a gift bag that isn't nice enough to re-gift is use it for a lunch bag.  The smaller handle bags are great for toting lunch and snacks back and forth to work and when they are too worn out for that use I also turn them into trash bags!

Great idea! I like the comment about the kids having their own "boogie bag".  You know what they say, "It's all about the packaging" Wink

IT ALSO IS PREDECORATED SO IT DOESNT LOOK TO TACKY WHILE SUITING ITS PURPOSE GREAT IDEA. I AM A MAIL CARRIER AND I DONATE SOME OF MY MAGAZINES I AM DONE READING TO THE ELDERLY LADIES ON MY ROUTE. I PUT THE MAGAZINES IN OLD GIFT BAGS AND SET THEM ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF THEIR MAIL BOXES THE HANDLES MAKE IT EASIER FOR THEM TO CARRY.

great idea...I also reuse the nice big paper bags from stores like Old Navy and others as gift bags...a few pieces of coordinating scrapbook paper to cover the store name, taped on with my scrapbooking double sidded tape and personalize the bag with the occasion or person's name.  No one has ever noticed it was a bag from a store...they say, "wow you are so crafty" and I tell them thanks...if they are people who appreciated reusing and recycling I tell them my scrapbook secret and they always love it!

I like to use them as lunch bags.  Some of the newer cuter styles that are made out of burlap, (Target carries them) I keep in my car and throw my wallet and lipstick in if I am just doing an errand or two and don't want to carry my over stuffed purse..

This is a good idea.  We use the large gift bags to transport my mother-in-law's laundry to and from the nursing home she resides at.  It just adds a "cheery touch" and people in nursing homes need all the cheer they can get.

I use the empty tissue boxes the same way, as a garbage recepticle.Great way to recycle trash.  I keep one next to the bed and one in the car.
