We have a single friend who started a group for single parents. The parents and kids get together for a day of fun. My husband and I get invited and bring our two children. They have a lot of kids to play with and we have adults to talk to. It is great.

I love our local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group.  They offer free childcare and a place for Moms to get together and have a little fun.  Also, story hour at the library is fun!

THERE ARE ALOT OF DAYTIME  ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO WITH  YOU'RE KIDS @ ALL AGES, HERE ARE A COUPLE OF IDEAS I USE: I FOUND A COMPANY CALLED: LAKESIDECOLLECTION.COM. THEY SELL ALL AGES OF FUN THINGS FOR KIDS @ A BETTER PRICE THAN THE AVERAGE CATALOG WOULD OFFER. ALSO TRY MICHAELS.COM. THEY HAVE UNADVERTISED SELLS (SKETCH PADS FOR COLORING/PAINTING -- 50 CENTS EACH) & DOLLAR ITEMS FOR THE KIDS TO KEEP THEIR MINDS ACTIVTY (PUZZLES, INK STAMP KITS, MARKERS, FOAM PROJECTS ETC...). ALSO STOCK UP ON SCHOOL SUPPLIES THAT ARE ON SALE..  CHECK OUT WEBSITES TO TEACH & HELP KIDS MAKE A KITE AS AN EXAMPLE. HAVE A PICNIC IN YOU'RE BACKYARD. FALL IS APPROACHING-- PLAY IN THE LEAVES, PLANT BULBS ETC..   HOLLOWEEN IS APPROACHING, HELP THE KIDS MAKE A CUSTOM, THANKSGIVING IS APPROACHING: MAKE THANKSGIVING THINGS TO DECORATE THE TABLE ETC..                     P.S.  YOU'RE KIDS WILL THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT OF SHARING & TEACHING THEM HOW TO BE CREATIVE WHEN THEY GET OLDER.

Me too! I am the children's coordinator for my local MOPS group.  It is a great way to get out and meet other moms and give the kids a chance to make new friends too.  Find a group near you at www.mops.org

I bought a memberships to the local zoo, and children's science museum. The science musuem has a special toddler room.  He's able to play with kids his age, plus play at a water table, bubble room, etc.Several times a year they both have member only events that allow even more hands on activities.

I am teaching my daughters how to do plastic canvas crafts. It's fun and it's great for making special gifts for family and friends. Some good websites to get patterns from are FREEPATTERNS.COM & ALLCRAFTS.NET. I hope everyone that tries it has as much fun as we do.

My husband, children and I go outside and find different flowers and leaves.  I purchase inexpensive muslin and cut it into squares and we place the flowers and leaves in between the muslin and place on a hard surface.  Lay a sheet of paper over and whack away with a hammer.  Remove the paper and scrape away what is left and you will see some amazing prints.  We have done this with leaves and flower pettals from our back yard, the park, and wild flowers when we go camping.  I have taught each of them how to make simple pillows out of the fabric.  It is also nice to fram and create a lasting keepsake.

I live in Decatur,Ga right outside Atlanta and the DeKalb County public library has a great website and they also have it where you can search for events by age, library location etc. Lot of great free events for everyone. Curious Geroge was there back in September. my 15month old loves him!!!!

Yes libraries are great for groups for kids of all ages. Churches also have activities for kids of all ages. The scouting program is also good. - you may not go to the activities themselves with your child but you will constantly be involved in helping them suceed in the program and advance. (and learn)
