6 Key Things to Do Less Often

6 Key Things to Do Less Often

Next to I love you, do you know what our three favorite words are? Forget about it. Whether spoken by a spouse to dry our tears, by a boss to lighten our load, or even by the plumber who did some extra work at no charge, it’s a sweet thing to hear. It means our responsibilities just got a tad fewer.

If you’re like most busy women, your to-do list is longer than your supermarket receipt. So here are some things you can check off right now. Think of it as our gift to you. Go ahead, forget about it.

Getting an oil change every 3,000 miles: Experts now agree that it’s smarter and more economical to follow the advice in your car’s manual, which usually recommends oil changes at 5,000- to 7,500-mile intervals. That means fewer visits to the garage for you, less sludge for the environment, and, ultimately, more money in your pocket.

Paying bills: We better clarify this. Just about every business now offers an electronic payment option. To save yourself time, hassle, and stamps, sign up for all of them. If you don’t want companies accessing your bank account, then supply a credit-card number so you can still review charges and have someone to mediate disputes.

Putting in a new dryer sheet with every load: Okay, this isn’t exactly a huge time suck, but every bit helps. Instead of individual dryer sheets, Bounce now makes a dispenser (called the Bounce® Dryer Bar) that sticks to the inside of your dryer and automatically freshens for about 2-4 months. Stick one in and forget about it!

Agonizing over big problems: New research has found that our brains are much more active during daydreaming states than previously thought. Specifically, the areas responsible for complex problem solving keep cranking even though we’re unaware of it. In fact, letting your mind wander may actually bring on those a-ha moments.

Standing in customer-service lines at airports: If your flight has been canceled or delayed, immediately call the airline’s 800 number. Whoever answers will not only have more up-to-date info than the harried person behind the desk, but she’ll also be able to rebook you quicker. Always carry a list of airline 800 numbers in your purse when you travel.

Showering: That’s right, you heard us. The reason your skin feels so dry and you’re considering buying moisturizer in bulk is probably because you’re simply showering too much. Stick with once per day (or even every other) so your body’s natural oils can work their anti-aging magic. Hey, it works for French women!

Showering every other day may work in the winter but here in the south we all get a bit smelly by the end of the day. Girls in the south in the summer PLEASE don't skip the shower. Surprised

In the summer do a quick rinse off 2nd shower, but try and skip the soap. It's the soap that destroys your natural oils.

Being a stay at home mom with 5 children I think taking a shower every other day is perfect. Sometimes its luck if I can get that. But another plus, it also saves electricity and water.

Aww blame it on the shower!!! I still shower atleast once a day, really depends on what I have done if I need to shower again. I think taking long HOT showers are the killers.

I have extremely dry skin and live by the shower every other day rule.  I work out every day and that is shower day for me.  I do however shower on off days if some activity or just the heat and humidity warmed me up a bit more than normal.  This also is great for your hair!!  Clean hair is good, but the natural oils that build up on your hair are good for it too!  This is especially true if you have color treated or highlighted hair!  And with the high cost of shampoos, conditioners and body wash...it really does create a big savings!  I do however use lotion every day even if I don't shower.

Gotta shower evryday before I go to sleep. I wash my hair everyday too. The trick is to use moisturising body and hair products in the shower and a quality body lotion after. My skin glows- has never dried out from showers.

Shower once a day its the only way i wake up,  i shampoo every three days put a shower cap on this wa your hair is shiny and healthy try it or if ou want to wash it daily look for a very thick conditioner or leave in conditioner,  soap leaves soap scum so watch out but alsowatch out for antibacterial soap which dries you out even more.  I am neruotic about soap scum in the shower i do not want to be covered in it so i use antibacterial soap but after shower i put on lotion,

I also love the Bounce Dryer Bar.  It is awesome.  Depending on the temp. and what exercise you have done....you need a daily shower.  But in the winter I will you every other day or my skin is really dry.  It doesn't matter how much lotion or amount of water I drink, it's still very dry.

I am a shower every other day girl. Our family lives near the beach and it is pretty humid, so on beach days we tend to shower and get all the sand off. During the warmer months- May through September/October- we shower outside. it is nothing fancy. I have a double line waterhose, so one goes on a reel and one hooks up on a hook for the shower. Since I am a stay at home mom, my daughter and I take them during mid day when it is warm. The luke warm water from outside is refreshing in the humidity and heat. Not to mention we use less water in from our waterheater.
