Go Ahead—Eat 2 Burgers

1 egg white, beaten
1/2 sm red onion, minced
1/4 cup minced cilantro
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp salt
1 lb extralean ground turkey breast (99% fat-free)
8 whole-wheat dinner rolls, cut in half
4 leaves lettuce, halved

Whisk egg white, onion, cilantro, cumin, and salt in a medium bowl. Add turkey and mix just until blended. Shape into 8 burgers, about 3" each.

Heat a skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Cook burgers, turning once, 6 minutes, or until well browned and a thermometer inserted in the thickest portion registers 165°F.

Place the bottoms of 2 dinner rolls on 4 plates. Top with 1 piece of lettuce and 1 tomato slice. Place 1 burger on each and top with avocado and the tops of the rolls.

a few weeeks ago my boyfriend and i were shopping and he saw turkeys burgers and started asking me about them. i personally like them myself and i told him so. i was semi excited because my guy is very resistant to trying anything new. he put them in the cart and said ill try them. turns out he loves them and wants to switch from burgers made with beef to turkey burgers. he told me a few online gaming friends were saying how they were so terrible etc so maybe this conversation stuck his curiousity. he told me he highly doubt if any of the nay sayers were actually given a turkey burger with their fave topping he would bet money they wouldnt know the differenceTongue out

turkey tastes better  if it is seasoned more than you would normally do for beef.

We love Turkey burgers, but as noted by another member, they do need more seasoning than beef burgers.  They are so good barbequed!  We eat them with all the normal toppings (onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard, pickles and ketchup) and I guess we've been eating veggie and turkey burgers for so long we prefer them and I can't even tell the difference!

I love turkey burgers but they do have a tendency to be dry and do need an ample amount of healthy seasonings. I make them moist by adding milk and a shredded piece of whole wheat bread. I like to amp up the flavor by adding all-seasons, chili pepper and scallions. This is actually my take on a recipe from the show "Cooking Yourself Thin". Served on a whole wheat bun with a heap of Spring Mix salad, 1/2 slice of Muenster's cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and a tsp of Catalina dressing-it was the best burger I ever made!

i've found that by grating oh, say 1/3 cup fresh apple to one pound of ground turkey and add lots of herbs, spices they are really good and juicy.. A-1 sauce is great addition too

I live on turkey burger and chicken burger. I use Mrs. Dash seasoning and I cook it slow and it should be thawed.  It should not be cooked frozen, doesn't have to be well done, That's what makes dry. I use it just like hamburger in all my receipes. I have lost 150 LBS. and avoided gout arthritis.

I make turkey burgers with bbq sauce, a dab of woshteshire, and green onions.  I also cook 2 lg. sweet onions in 1 tbsp. butter for an hour on low then add a dash sugar and cook for another hour.  They are a delicious addition to turkey and add a ton of flavor.  I will have to try this receipe and compare the two.  Happy cooking!

if you dont like the turkeynurger to be to dry, just add a few pieces of cheese in the  turkey pattie as you fix it. Than fry it up in the pan. once you bite in the burger the cheese will just squeeze out of it. I use cheese in beef burgers also , and my  kids love them.

Make sure you get fresh ground turkey breast not the turkey in the rolls or frozen rolls. They are gross as they grind up skin as well as meat. I haven't been able to try turkey for a few years now too grossed out. I'll have to try these; they sound good. A thick slice of onion sounds good too. I heard you have to season it well.

I FIND THAT IF YOU ADD SOME OLIVE/MAYO TO TURKEY MEAT AND LOTS OF LOW SALT/NO SALT SEASONING ,MAKES FOR A GOOD BURGER.

I make turkey burgers with shredded zucchini, 1 slice of whole grain bread (toasted and torn into small pieces, chopped onion and salt and pepper.  The zucchini keeps the turkey burger really moist.  You could use any vegetable that has moisture and you can shred (i.e. yellow summer squash, carrots).  It's a great way to get kids to eat their veggies!

Strange that I read this recipe today, when just last night I made myself a couple of turkey burgers with tomato and avacado!  Delicious!

My daughter made turkey burgers for dinner from her Cook yourself Thin book. I didn't really like them but she and her dad and brother loved them so we'll make them again. The whole point of them for the most part is lowfat, so adding mayo and such to make them less dry is kind of defeating the purpose. The recipe she uses has a couple slices of avocado in place of mayo and they liked it just fine. I agree with the person who said buy it fresh, not from those rolls though!
