We held my husbands 30th birthday party at our local bowling alley. We hired a hypnotist. Everyone had a great time...

Well, my sweet 16th was quite unique. I had second degree burns on my face and ear, and got the bandages off for good on my birthday! No scarring, everything looked healed so it was defnitely the sweetest birthday gift I could have gotten. I know I got presents from my parents and sisters but do not even remember what I had gotten.  Everything paled in comparison to knowing my face was alright again!

My Mom and our family of 8 children, our spouses, and many of the 70 grandchildren and great grandchildren all flew to Las Vegas for 5 days to celebrate my mother's 80th with a wonderful Birthday dinner at a terrific hotel.  It was also fabulous meeting by the pool every morning after breakfast, sharing sightseeing fun, and going to shows in the evening. We've done this for her last two decade year changes.  She's in very good health, so when her 90th rolls around, we'll all fly from various areas of the country to celebrate her special day once again.

Always with a birthday cake of one variety or another!  Once, my husband who request no frosting had so many candles that the actual cake caught on fire!  He is 50 now and this happened several years ago.  I am a fire cracker and so I used to have sparklers on my birthday cake as a child.  It is very important to celebrate birthdays to let people know how much you care!

For my mom's 80th birthday, I posted her photo in our local newspaper a week before, and asked people who knew her to shower her with birthday cards.  She loved it, and got almost 100 cards over the next few weeks!

Each year my sister-in-law and I celebrate our birthdays together.  Our families go out for Mexican food at a great restaurant that has a huge sombrero for the birthday person to wear.  They take a pix of us with our sombreros on and we get to take that with us.  It's great fun to look at the pix from year to year and see that huge smile under the even bigger hat!

My youngest daughter lives in Ne..She sent me a plane ticket for  my birthday...It was the BEST surprise...She had her girfriends waiting for us at this clever setup, just for WOMAN. In Omaha..  They had a dress up room, hats, glasses and boa's..we had our pick. They played records from the 60's-70-& 80's......tables all decorated and LUNCH was served...We were one of 8 or 9 tables..all dressed up and having fun...Even though we did not know the other birthday girls..It was like one big family...It was awesome..with an outside garden to take more pictures....

How I Celebrate A Memorable Birthday! When I turned 50, almost 10 years ago,  my youngest daughter was out of town visiting my oldest daughter in Sacramento.  My husband was on the East Coast visiting his family, and I was at work.  My supervisor and my co-worker and two of our parent volunteers who funded a charity that we ran, all told me to pack my things up at 2:30 PM.  We shut the office down, went to a very nice restaurant for Happy Hour, then had a wonderful dinner - I still have the picture that we all took - it was taken with the office Polaroid camera and was the last film in it.  I cherish it to this day and remember that evening and night fondly, and I did not feel alone, but felt cherished.  Shelby Carmichael

Last year I got the kids and husband to spend the day with me at putt-putt( minature golf). We spent the whole day playing and eating junk food! Tommorrow is my 47th birthday and we are going again!! I'm making matching shirts for all of us. (My kids are 24,21 and 20). It's the best day of my year!!!

I switch my children as soon as they turn 15 because that is when our medical insurance allows it.  My children no longer want to be seen by a "baby doctor" and have more mature issues.

My 45th birthday found me with all of my children out of the house and me feeling a bit lost. Who was I if not a mom first?... I decided it was time to do something I had always talked about... SKYDIVING! My partner and I set off for the nearest skydiving venue. We got there just as they were prepping a new group to go up. I was in the plane before I had any chance to change my mind. It was a once in a life time thrill. A memorable way to mark the beginning of a new stage in my life.

I always make a big deal out of family members bdays. We decorate, bring cake and presents which means making a big deal out of it. However, and not to sound negative or whiney but all I get is phone calls more or less with the exception of my hubby and daughter who take me out to dinner. I don't want to plan my own party and invite people over that seems rude to me.  You just don't do that. Anyone else feel that way? Like people like it when you do this stuff for them but then everyone just forgets about you because they are too busy for me?  I really don't expect anything in return because nothing ever happens but after 20 years you would think they would catch on????

The best thing I have ever done  as a single, widowed, mother of one daughter  who is turning 21 this birthday is planning to eat out at a restaurant but the surprise is a trip that could be around the county or driving to the next state.Since my husband passed  when Courtney was just 14 months old and my dad passed 8 months before that I decided on her birthday to take a small drive or end up in a different state we just take it as it feels on that day. This has healed a lot of sadness into joy and strenthened  us as good mother/daughter relationship with the long talks and discoveries along the way.

Everyone in my family has a birthday party with a meal chosen by them and a cake and ice cream of their choice. It ia a longstanding tradition. And it is always special-year after year.

Hi everyone.  I just had my 34th birthday and it was a very simple day, but a weekend I won't forget.  It started the day before where my boyfriend and two children took me  on a hike to a beautiful waterfall where you can jump off cliffs into the pool of water by the waterfall.  It was breath taking.  Then on my birthday I made myself a double layer dark chocolate cake and spent the rest of the day at the beach.  I was very lucky the weather was very warm.  Usually on my birthday it is cold and rainy sometimes snowing.  But I got an awesome tan and beautiful pictures of my family by the waterfalls.

I turned 40 this year and was pretty excited about it.  My boyfriend took me to a champagne breakfast, and he had all my girlfriends waiting in an RV when we came out.  We spend the first part of the day at the WSU homecoming game, and I got presents every hour including a sexy pirate outfit, a feather boa, tattoos, and other stuff.  We finished the night with dinner and karaoke.  When we got home, I had an entire treasure chest of pirate booty waiting for me.  BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!
