I have used "Simple Green" concentrate for years and years on stains.  Rub some into the affected area and wash as usual with your other clothes.  Works great and doesn't harm colors.  Buy it at Lowe's or Home Depot.  Is a great degreaser for garage floors too.  Be careful though it's sudsy, so don't use more than you need!

You can even do this after a grease stain has already been washed. If I find it after the item has been washed, I treat it with my dish soap, I usually have Palmolive, and then I send it through the wash again.

I work in retail and found the best way of spot cleaning make-up on a sweater is a baby wipe.It works on almost anything but silk!

The one we found that cleans the best is Dawn dishwashing.  You rub it on a stain on your clothes, before you wash it.  If it is really bad, rub Dawn on the stain or stains and soak it over night and the stain will come right out.

Smilestraight rubbing alcohol works great on ink stains.  MUCH less messy than hairspray too.

I always squeeze about 2 oz, of my Dawn dish soap into my laundry detergent. I buy the very cheap detergent and I noticed no suds what so ever,"mostlt water" so I do this and the detergent works great. Just remember that the dish soap is VERY sudsy so only use a little detergent in your laundry.

I have been using LESTOIL on the clothes for years. first pre-treat the stain, rub a little, then put in wash with your regular laundry detergent, works great on anything! Old yellow stains on white shirts, blood, grease, if it doesn't take it all out the first try give one it  one more washing the same way! you'll be surprised at how many clothing articles you can save!

I have used Palmolive and ice cold water on certain stains for several years now.  I don't remember who turned me onto it.  Some of my favorite shirts/blouses have been saved this way.  I didn't know about Dawn, but I'm am definitely going to be giving it a try.

depending on the stain type, I am a huge fan of baking soda and white vinegar, if it is a carpet stain, hands down, oxiclean powder and boiling water will remove ANYTHING. The key to any stain is a dry, clean, white cloth for blotting or scrubbing.

To get grease out of clothes you can use a can of Coke in the laundry. My brother is a mechanic and told me about this. I did it for my husbands work clothes and it really works!

My mother n law told me about MEAN GREEN and I have to say that it gets oil or anything that you might on your clothes.  It is really great for mens clothes, and I use it to clean for all rooms in the house, such as storm doors, stains on tile etc.  Try it ladies, it is really good, you can pick it up at the dollar store. You can get it in a fesh scent and at a great price.

I LOVE Oxyclean!!! I was a little worried about getting spit up stains off of some baby clothes that I was reusing but it came off great.  The only stain I have never been able to get of is Dry Erase Marker.  Anyone have any ideas?

I have found out that a good cheap shampoo will take blood, grass and even grease out of clothes just dab a bit on the stain add a little water to activate shampoo and rub stain.  If you have a mechanic in your house or you work fast food and come home smelling like a french fry use 1 cup top job by mr clean in your soak water in the machine add to the tub of water and add laundry soap turn off washer for 20-30 mins or set your soak cycle for 30 mins then wash as usual.  Mr. Cleans top job or spic and span works all most as well.  This even takes out mold, mildew and axel grease and cleans my boyfriends fast food uniforms to where they are like new.  I hope this helps

I have used Dawn on clothing stains for years, especially grease/oil.  There is a reason that they use it it the ocean after oil spills!  I can't live without it! Smile

For stains on clothes just add white vinegar to your water, pour some directly on to the stain, it works great, it also makes white clothes, whiter.

Soured Laundry - When you live in a humid area and have problems with sour laundry or just really stinky laundry, wash with Pine Sol instead of laundry soap.  It makes your laundry smell wonderful.  I've tried store brands of pine cleaner, but Pine Sol works the best.  It doesn't take much either.  A little goes a long way.

If using dishwasher detergent, be careful . . . I used it on a cotton shirt and it left a mark . . . like it had been slightly bleached, even though the box didn't mention bleach as an ingredient.

If the stain is REALLY greasy, I use dish soap AFTER I sprinkle a little baby or body powder on the area, let it sit for a few minutes, then shake out the excess. It usually absorbs some of the grease. Like another person posted, you should try to wash it ASAP. And NEVER put it in the dryer until you've checked to see if the stain washed out-the heat from the dryer will set it FOREVER!

I treat stains as soon as I find them and keep them wet until they can be washed with a full load.  I have not found a difference in stain treaters...yet.

Good idea but it doesn't have to be high quality. Many of the dollar stores are selling very good dish soap and even names like Dawn and Joy.
